How do you keep an otherwise sweet dog from being aggressive toward other dogs?
I occassionally pet sit for a lady whose large dog is as nice as can be around the house and the cat, but when we go out walking on a leash he lunges as if to attack any other passing dogs. He's already been to obedience training as a puppy. Wht else is there to do?
Sounds like he needs further training!
When you walk him, is he on a choke or pinch collar? If so, then SNAP him when he lunges and tell him NO. If he does it again, SNAP him again and so on and so on. Eventually he'll get the idea that it's not OK.
If he isn't on a choke or pinch, talk to his owner about further obedience training.
Edit - Misa, sorry, but the "Ignore Method" of training you preach is worthless. Snapping is NOT cruel and NOT punishment, it's called a CORRECTION.
