Dog Obedience Puppy Training

dog obedience puppy training
Is Peaceful Pawz a good in home dog obedience company?

I am looking into in home dog obedience training for my 4 month old pit puppy and so far am most interested in Peaceful Pawz which is owned by Marianne Courey and located in Metro Detroit. I can't seem to find any reviews on her or her company and was hoping for a little help on here! The price is very reasonable (5 sessions/100$) but want to know if the training is worth it! Thanks!

For a puppy I would suggest that you GET OUT of the house and GO to a doggie obedience school. Why? Your dog needs to be exposed to new people, new places, and new dogs so that he or she can learn that they are all good things. If you want your dog to be calm and confident as an adult, you need to do training around a variety of things and make sure your dog has good experiences with those things as a puppy.

And as far as finding a good obedience school- looking at review online is always good but I'd also suggest that you ask if you can drop by and watch a class (ideally the one you'll be taking) before you sign up. Then you can decide if it is the kind of place you want. If things are totally out of control and there are 40 dogs running around barking like mad- it might not be a place for you. If you get there and the trainer says 'we don't use treats because they are bribes!' and then alpha-rolls her dog- you might not want to train there either. Best way to find one you like is to just go and look and ask questions. Don't be afraid to ask the people how long they've been training or how they got interested in dogs.

Bed bug dog inspector in NJ

The worst part is that there isn't an easy solution to get rid of them all. Therefore, it is highly recommended to hire a bed bug dog inspection NYC agency. Hiring a bed bug dog inspection NYC company is one of the most accurate methods of finding bed bugs in various establishments.

We humans are simply not equipped to handle bed bugs. The fact that bed bugs are so tiny along with their tendency to hide in the most inconvenient crevices makes it hard for humans to detect them. Visual inspection is unreliable because bed bugs can be located inside mattresses, underneath carpet boards and even behind walls. Instead, we can use man's best friend and his heightened sense of smell. Dogs can be trained by pest control services to find bed bugs. Owners can also save a lot of money by preventing the need to tear up floors and walls to uncover bed bug communities.

Some building owners are afraid to hire bed bug inspection companies simply because they are scared that their reputation may be affected. The majority of these businesses are very efficient and are affordable investments. This means that even if an establishment is deemed infested by bed bugs, the problem can be taken care of without alerting the public with this news. This way, the reputation of the location is preserved.

Another great benefit of hiring bed bug inspection agencies is the support and training they provide. Most companies are willing to advise hotel and apartment staff on how to prevent future infestations. Just because this service is included makes the entire investment worth it. Building owners and managers should also consider the future value of hiring a bed bug inspection company. A lot of money can be saved by simply preventing future outbreaks of bed bugs on their properties. Companies that are hired to handle pest problems often give professional advice on how to "pest-proof" locations in order to prevent those situations from repeating. This saves plenty of money in the long run by avoiding expensive remodeling projects that can involve tearing down walls and floors in order to uncover and eliminate pest problem areas.

An important element in hiring a bed bug inspection agency in New York City is the establishment of selection criteria. Because New York is such a big place, there are various agencies that have been created in order to capitalize on the need to eliminate pests. How do you know which ones are best? The easiest way to find out which companies are the most legitimate is to look at their certification record. Are they recognized by the NPMA (National Pest Management Association)? Are they members of the largest national organizations for pest management? These organizations include the IBBMA (Integrated Bed Bug Management Association), the NESDCA (National Entomology Scent Detection Canine Association) and the WDDO (World Detection Dog Organization).

Another aspect of selecting a company is whether they are independently owned or funded by a larger company trying to take advantage of the industry. Independent companies are generally better selections because there is no conflict of interest and they generally have a better reputation as the business is their one specialty. Smaller and more local companies also tend to be more professional and available to fit within your schedule rather than taking on too many clients at once.

Dog Training Aids: the Art of Training your Dog With a Whistle

One of the most commonly used dog training aids is the whistle. Historically, the whistle was used to train hunting herding dogs. The whistle creates the least noise and it sound reaches far compared to the human voice. Besides, when you are out there herding or hunting, shouting commands to your dog from a distance is not advisable. Note that the human voice is very scary to animals especially in the wild. On the other hand, the sound of the whistle often easily blends with the other sounds of the place thus it does not cause so many disturbances. Furthermore, the dog’s ear is more tuned to higher frequency sounds like that of a whistle. Since high frequency sounds travel a greater distance than the human voice, the whistle works well for dogs that are used for herding and hunting.

In our modern times, many handlers prefer the whistle as part of their dog training aids. The use of the whistles as dog training aids is no longer limited to those dogs that are used for hunting and herding. Many pet owners prefer to use the whistle to call their pets or to issue commands from a distance.

Training Your Dog With The Help Of A Whistle

Using whistles as dog training aids require skills and knowledge on your part. If you have no idea how to use the whistle as part of your dog training aids, it is best to ask an expert to help you. You can’t just simply use a whistle randomly as part of your dog training aids. Always remember that you dog need to be able to understand what the tone of the whistle means in order for it to follow accordingly. Dog trainers have developed some standard whistle commands over time. For instance, a whistle command to sit can be issued by one long whistle blast together with a raised hand open hand. On the other hand, if you want to direct the attention of the dog, you can make two short whistle blasts and point the new direction with your hand.

On the other hand, different types of whistles may be used for different commands. Dogs can be trained to respond to different sounds and pitches of the whistle. However, these rules on how to use the whistle as part of your dog training aids are not absolute. You can always improvise when dealing with your dog so do not limit yourself to whistle commands that others have set.

Is US K9 Academy a good place to get my dog trained?

I have a one-year old pure bread german shepherd and I am looking for someone to give her obedience training. I spoke to this guy named Peter from US K9 academy in Hialeagh, FL. Is he any good? Does anyone know if its worth leaving my dog with him to train??????

I know Peter, but, instead of asking here, why not just go down there and ask Peter, tell him to show you what you want to see and then decide if your "breaded" GSD can do the course!!
Hope I helped!!

Dog & Puppy Training Tips

Many dog owners don't properly train their puppies and end up living with a very misbehaved dog in the house. A lot of people underestimate the responsibility of owning a dog and never bother with proper training. However, if you don't properly train your dog to obey you then you're going to have a big problem.

Dog training isn't difficult you just have to know the basic concepts and implement them. On top of that, you need to keep consistent with your training in order to acieve success. If you attempt to train your dog how to sit and give up after a day or two you'll never be able to train your dog with the best training guide in the world. That's simply because there is no easy way to do it, you just need the RIGHT information and keep implementing it over and over.

Knowledge and repetitiveness is the key, and I'm going to share some of the knowledge you need to know to train your dog. The basic training method is called the positive reinforcement method which simply means that you reward your puppy for doing something right. This will give your puppy a mental note "chew on this toy and I get rewards". So your puppy will learn that he only gets praise and reward for chewing the RIGHT toy. That way, your puppy will stop chewing the toys that aren't rewarding (such as your shoes, socks, etc).

So what else does this method works for? Anything at all! You can use the same method to stop your puppy from biting, barking, train your puppy how to sit, come, fetch, speak, stop pulling on the leash, and anything else that you ever wanted to train your puppy!

If training so so easy why doesn't everyone do it? First off, not everyone knows even the general rules how to train a dog. Second, not everyone is willing to keep consistent with the training which will result in a fail. And lastly, some breeds of dogs are easier to train than others, so that's another major factor that plays a role in dog training.

Bottom line is, training your dog isn't difficult but knowing the right information and keeping consistent on the daily basis can be. So learn the correct information first before attempting to train your puppy.

Kennel Training your puppy, House breakings First 5 Golden Rules

Kennel Training your puppy, The First 5 Golden Rules

Some rules are Golden, to never be forgotten simply because they always apply. Always to get used and referenced because they guide us and point out our coordinates and keep us on point, moving in the correct direction.

Find your Golden Rule, follow its star-like unwavering truth and become guided by it. Whatever your main goal or task, there'll be a Golden Rule that applies that will help keep yourself on track.

Here are 5 of the most useful Golden Rules that apply to House training your puppy using a properly sized kennel..

Golden Rule # 1, The kennel is used for training, not punishment. The thinking behind doing it this way is you don't want your dog to be afraid of the kennel. Remember, increasing your puppies confidence is important at this point in the training cycle..

Golden Rule # 2, Allow the dog to play around the kennel using food to attract the dog closer and closer, if needed. This might affect you in the foreseeable future because you don't want to have a difficult time getting your dog to the kennel and in. Make sure and don't forget that you must remain extremely enthusiastic giving lots of praise and physical contact..

Golden Rule # 3, Using the dogs favorite bed or blanket inside the crate.. This might be a good option because most dogs will not have a house breaking mistake were they have to lay or were they are cozy. They build greater holding power quickly!

Golden Rule # 4, Once your dog is in the kennel, close door, praise, feed and praise more. Remember! you can not be positive enough and reinforce enough when introducing your dog to a new kennel. There are definite ways of doing this, including play, reinforce and more play. Pet, feed and speaking to your dog in a calm, reassuring voice.

Golden Rule # 5, Take puppy in and out of kennel extremely often at first. You must go from kennel to outside to his/her spot. This will teach association. You could potentially do this by being consistent, having a leash near by the kennel and a collar always on the dog.

This can make a big difference for you because it is imperative that you go from kennel to outside in a fluid non-stressed motion. Not allowing your dog the chance to have an accident while on the way out.

This might entail being intensely observant of your dog especially at night. This is really critical since it is possible that you might loss a little sleep at first. But extremely important to your dog by remaining keen to their behavior and needs.

Carefully following these golden rules will quicken the house training tasks and achieve the most basic obedience training for you and your pup. Building a solid relationship and all the while allowing you to progress quite rapidly as well as your successes greater, more frequent and much more satisfying. Good luck!

Learn Dog Training

learn dog training
How old do you have to be to learn shultzen dog training. Are there better dogs than German shepherd dogs?

Where do you buy good German shepherd dogs for working and how much are they? Are there schools that let 15yr olds learn about training dogs or do you wait until you graduate?

That you have to ask proves that you are not yet a candidate.

The first step is to actually TRAIN a dog - of any breed - to a competitive level. Doesn't matter whether the competition is Agility or Companion Trials or Obedience Tests or Tracking - each has its peculiarities, but what they do is demonstrate whether you have the patience & consistency required, plus the observational ability required to interpret a dog's behaviour and know when to teach, when to command, when to distract.

For DogSport itself, the first step is obtain a calm, intelligent-trainable, agile pooch - weakness of character will eliminate it from the "courage" section, weakness of body will eliminate it form the physical section, weakness of intelligence/trainability will eliminate it from just about everything in the 3 sections. Basically, unless both its parents have Breed Survey Classification (BS.Cl.1 or 2 in English, KKl.I or II in German), a litter's chances of producing correct GSDs with HGH and SchutzHund potential are small.
The second step is to join a DogSport club and obtain BH (BegleiterHund) with your pet - see http://www.worldclassgsd.com/Schutzhund/BH_Schutzhund.htm

Only after that - and after your dog's body has matured enough (usually 15-18 months old) will you be allowed to start on the advanced mental & physical activities - see http://germanshepherddog.com/schutzhund/index.htm - but there are many confidence-building and reliability-improving activities that can be used before that.

Now wash your filthy mouth out with battery acid! As if there could POSSIBLY be a better dog than a GSD!
However, the GSD is not intended to be the best at much - being "The Best" requires exaggeration of particular shapes & qualities that suit that ONE thing. You don't expect to see a tennis champion being also a boxing champion and a weightlifting champion and a pole-vault champion. The GSD is intended to be a specialist at the boundary patrolling method of sheep tending, and one of the 3 or 4 best at just about everything else. Its only rival is the Belgian Shepherd Dog - not surprising, seeing as both breeds were developed at the same time (1891-1911) to perform the same tasks on opposite sides of the River Maas! Sadly, show-is-all and pet-is-all breeders have been focussing on ruining the GSD for much longer than they have been trying to ruin the BSD - especially in Britain, Canada, the USofA. But in both breeds you will find excellence and you will find unworthy crap.

To ask your GSD questions, join some of the 400+ YahooGroups dedicated to various aspects of living with GSDs. Each group's Home page tells you which aspects they like to discuss, and how active they are. Unlike YA, they are set up so that you can have an ongoing discussion with follow-up questions for clarification. Most allow you to include photos.

Advice On Dog Training

Advice on Dog Training

Dogs often bark for many reasons. While owning a dog at home may be a matter of pride for you, training him to behave well before people is something that you need to consider seriously. If you leave your dog untrained, he may be a source of disturbance for your neighbors, day and night. The dog may bark abruptly at unknown people approaching him and scare them until they go away.

Dogs do understand certain commands and behave accordingly. They stay comfortably in the company of children, known people and strangers, provided they receive training on behavioral techniques. Train your pet animal on when to remain peaceful and when to bark. Take stock of those situations when your dog barks or woofs unusually. Many a time, your dog may bark if you tie him to a leash for long hours with restricted movement.

Dogs are generally popular as human protectors. They watch over each activity going around them round the clock. When they sense anything unusual, they lose control. At such times, they may launch an immediate violent attack causing injury to people approaching them. Keep your dog away from strange noises and disturbing sights. Try spending as much time as you can with your dog by taking him for a stroll in the park.

You may use a collar to stop your dog from barking. This is indeed a nice training tool. However, it may not be of much help particularly when the dog is off the collar. Here, the dog may revert to his yipping. Of late, you can get a dog collar easily as it is one among the many pet dog supplies. A collar is of manual and automatic type. Use an automatic collar that activates through vibrations in your dog's throat.

Likewise, have a manual collar to control your pet physically if it barks unwarrantedly. This collar even helps you to correct your dog and stop him from barking for no reason. Dogs need more attention. Take care of their grooming and personal hygiene, take them for joyrides, familiarize them with people you meet and feed them at the proper time during your dog training.

Dog Training Tips Chewing

Do you have any training dogs tips?

We just got a new 11 week old Rottweiler. I am not a dog person, and I don't know too much about training. Any tips would help. A specific question I have is: He likes to lick hands, and once and a while rubs his teeth on them. A little love nip I suppose. Should I stop that completely, or should I train him to keep it nice and not bite hard?? Im thinking if he keeps it nice, it will get him used to having hands in his mouth for when we need to pull out the rocks he chews on and brush his teeth. Advice?

With Rottweiler you must start early training and obedience, because they get so big.
Big means: it's easier for them to be out of control if you have not obedience trained.
Be consistent.
Take to local obedience classes, if possible.
I advise no hand licking or nipping - at least discourage it.

Free Cat Training

Cat Training - Teach Your Cat Discipline

Cats are typically maintenance-free pets, that are cute and lovable, but still require care and love. While they are able to maintain their own hygiene, the loving owner must still understand that cats have needs, such as adequate nutrition and proper grooming outside of that which the cat can provide for himself.

An untrained cat can cause as many problems for its owner as a dog that isn't housebroken. It isn't too hard to train a cat. It's important to teach a kitten not to scratch furniture, because its sharp claws can scratch and ruin furniture. Teaching the kitten to use a scratching post will solve that problem. Also, the house can start to smell unpleasant if the cat is not carefully toilet trained.

Clawing is a problem in many kittens, and has several solutions. Some people feel that declawing is a viable solution. Many people feel that declawing is cruel, and prevents the cat from climbing or protecting itself from other animals. Teaching a kitten when it is young to use a scratching post is a much kinder solution to the problem

Since the kitten does not know what the scratching post is for, it is best to teach it by grabbing its paws and doing the motion again and again. This will take some time for the cat to learn. So it will be good if the owner gives this cat training more often.

You'll also need to get a litter box for cat training. When the cat learns to use the litter box, it will solve the problem of messes on the carpet and linoleum, which will arise if a cat hasn't been housetrained. The litter box is available at any pet store, in a variety of sizes for different sizes of cats.

Your cat won't learn to use its litter box right away. It will need a little practice. Keep a close eye on your cat. If it starts acting like it is about to urinate, pick it up and take it right to the litter box. Like other animals, cats need plenty of exercise and playtime. Buy a few toys, such as stuffed animals and balls, to keep it entertained; otherwise, it may wreck your house.

There are many varieties of cat training products available in the market which can be found in the local pet store or online. The person has to identify what is needed in order to make the pet good for the indoors. Many owners do not know how to clean cat urine. Cat urine smell is very difficult to remove even after cleaning the spot with a good cat urine cleaner.

About the Author

Cats are cute and furry, and don't usually require people to give them a bath like you would a dog. However, there is more to cat ownership than feeding and brushing them. The best method for training a kitten to use a scratching post is to teach it by repeatedly making the motion with its paws. Cats will probably take a while to learn this, so more frequent cat training or kitten training is best. Many cat owners don't know how to clean cat urine in the best way. Cleaning products are available on the market and come in different varieties, just like cats do.

Obedience Training Your Puppy

obedience training your puppy
Has anyone used the training that Petsmart offers for dogs?

Just wondering if the puppy class is worth it... What did you pay for your class and do they do them at night or weekends? Did the class work for you and your puppy?

We're not getting our puppy till June, but I'm just doing research on the best way for obedience training that won't break the bank. A local trainer wants $85 a lesson... I think that is pretty high. Is it? Petsmart's classes are 8 weeks long, so 85x8=$680 with the local trainer... Petsmart's gotta be cheaper then that...
Thanks Terra, that makes sense!

I took my pup to it the puppy kindergarten and am now taking my second as well. When it comes to the puppy class they are perfectly fine. They teach the basics like sit, down, wait, stay and coming when called. I payed $110 for the 8 weeks and we go on sat. When it comes to moving up in obedience I would get a professional trainer though as Petsmart trainers really aren't. It's also great with socializing your pup as the classes normally have 5-8 pups in them. I think the puppy class is def. worth it with them but for the harder training go somewhere else :) Hope this helps.

Btw, I would NOT spend $700 on a puppy class. Show Obedience with a professional handler/trainer, yes.

ADD: No prob., as many thumbs down as I get.. puppy class is the foundation for the rest. If you get your puppy in a class where there are a lot of distractions it actually helps in the long run when you start them in that situation. If nothing else it will socialize your pup and get them used to a busy atmosphere :) which I find has been very helpful since I am just starting to show my 7 month old. Good luck with your pup! I am sure he/she will excel in whatever you choose :)

Nowadays, many families decide to keep animals, such as dogs, cats, mini pigs and so on. These animals can bring happiness to the daily life, accompany old people. But have you ever worried about how to control and train your animals? Dogs are the most common and favorite animal people would like to keep. And training your dogs and making them under your control is a tough task. They are so lovely and naughty. When you have friends come to your house, your dog maybe pounce towards them. On the market, there are various methods to make your dogs listen to your order. But how can you choose? Which is the best choice?Canis clicker training is a method makes use of clicker and treat. It can be a magic way for you to rule your dogs.

What is canis clicker training?
The key tool is the device called clicker. It looks like a small matchbox with a metal reed. It can make short sound after pressing the reed. And this training is a positive reinforcement. When your dogs make their behaviors, they will receive your reward. The rewards can some food they favor, such as the slices of meat, cheese and any other they prefer. It is very important for you to choose the right motivation for your dogs. Remember do not always give the same rewards. You can interchange the kind of the rewards. It can provide your dogs the feeling of freshness.

You should also remember some key point of the training. Click and the immediate reward is not a easy job. You should grasp the right time to do it. And during your training, you should avoid punishing your dogs. In addition, you should not use the verbal order at the beginning. Only do it when you are sure that your dogs can understand your meanings.

And at first, you can only teach your dogs to do some simple behaviors, such as sitting, standing and focusing on you. And you should choose some quiet place to start your training. The quiet place is good for your training result because it can avoid your dogs to distract. So the training result would be much better than anywhere else.

What is the history of the clicker training?
Clicker training is created by Marian Kruse and Keller Breland. Firstly they trained their pigeons to bowl and then they trained other kinds of animals. So the theory of the clicker training is operant conditioning.

After making use of the canis clicker training, your dogs will behave as you like. And you will feel proud when you become a excellent trainer and show your result before other. Garb A Copy Click here

Bulldog Puppy Training Tips In The Comfort Of Your Own Home

Creating The Perfect Home Environment For Bulldog Puppy Training

Best Practice For Bulldog Puppy Training

To think that your cute little Bulldog puppy was originally bred to bait and take down live bulls! It's a horrible thought and totally unrelated to today's rightful perception of these gentle, courageous, beautiful and friendly Dogs.

Well, that was 400 years ago, and today's domesticated English Bulldog is about as far from that horrible image as you could possibly hope to get.

In fact, English Bulldogs are known for their devoted loyalty to the family and their loving good-hearted nature. Nonetheless, they have also developed a deserved reputation for stubbornness and an initially endearingly independent attitude that - if left un-channelled can soon become troublesome and hard to control.

However, with the correct training principles and structured Home based reinforcement; Bulldog Puppy Training doesn't have to be a chore and can be an enjoyable aspect of Dog ownership. Bulldogs make for fantastic additions to any family. Of course, the better behaved you can get your Bulldog Puppy to become - the more enjoyable your time together with your Pet will be.

The First Steps In The Process Of Bulldog Puppy Training

If you are still waiting to take ownership of your Bulldog Puppy - or even if you already have them living with you, preparing your house to be as safe and as structured as possible will help your beloved Pet settle in happily and encourage the types of behaviors that will create a harmonious relationship with you and your Dog.

Set Up An Environment Conducive To Good Behavior

By creating a safe and organized environment for your Dog you have already begun the first stages of effective Bulldog Puppy Training. The allocation of a comfortable sleeping area with pillows and toys will double up as your new Pups sleeping space and will also be a place that they will retire to over time when they are tired or relaxing. Allocate a section of the yard where you want your Pup to relieve themselves and they will soon develop a habit to go out to this area - or let you know when they need to answer the call of nature.

Initiate Meal Times Following A Regular Pattern and Portion Size

A lot of people make the mistake of giving in to their Bulldogs love of food! This can actually soon turn into a bad thing, as Bulldogs are known to whine and sulk if they are not getting their own way. They will eat even when theyre not hungry if given half the chance and this can quickly lead to unhealthy weight gain. Avoid these problems by feeding your Dog at the same time every single day and always feed them a uniform portion. This way they will soon learn the times they are going to be fed and also that 'no' means NO!

Dog Training And Boarding

dog training and boarding

Secrets To Dog Training By Daniel Stevens

I recently read about Willow, the Spitz Terrier who was taught to read by her owner.  Yes, a dog can read although if you ask me, the dog can only remember how a word is spelled out and does not actually ready the words shown to her.  Nevertheless, wouldn't it be nice to hold up a sign with the word "SIT" for your dog to "read" and follow that instruction after reading?

Daniel Stevens think that his Secrets to Dog Training course can help me or you for that matter to train any dog to be at their best behavior every time.  It's not gonna teach me how to teach my dog how to read and follow instructions written on a board but that's a start.

I believe that there is more to training dogs than making them repeat things over and over again.  There has to be that something that would allow you to communicate with them better.  Without this x-factor, you could never know what they are thinking when they are doing particular things after you have trained them. Hopefully, the Secrets to Dog Training by Daniel Stevens can help me create that bridge between me and my dog to communicate better.

I think the cost is not a problem since I would really love to have my pet, Rodney, to be the most behaved dog in the world and at the same time, the most fun to be with.  This year then, it would be my goal to get a copy of this course and probably create a review for it to help other people on the same boat as me.

Dog Training Free Advice

dog training free advice
Is crate training my dog mean?

I recently just got a puppy and I am trying to crate train her. I have this huge crate that she can do a full turn in and she has enough room to spread out in. Every one tells me it is a good thing to crate train them and that the puppy will soon see the crate as her safe spot. Everytime she is in the crate she yalps and wines and won't settle down. I am trying to put her in it for a half an hour everyday. But whenever I hear her yalping and whinning it breaks my heart and I can't stand listening to it, it makes me want to cry and makes me feel like I am abusing her. Is it really mean to be leaving her in a crate if she completely hates it? I would let her run free but I go back to work tomorrow and I do not want her to chew the things I have in my house. Please if anyone has any advice on how to settler her down or if I should not put her in it at all. Thanks

No, it's no abusive at all. Almost every trainer will recommend crate training. When you put her in there, completely ignore her barking and whining. Leave her alone and she will eventually quiet down. If you are trying to sooth her by talking to her from another room or sitting outside the crate to calm her down, she is winning the dominance fight. Even looking at her while she is whining means she is winning and she will continue to cry.

When you do go to let her out, be sure she is being relaxed and quiet, or else she learns that whining a lot means you will let her out. She should learn that she needs to be relaxed to come out into your home. When you let her out, don't acknowledge her, no eye contact, and don't get her excited again, just open the door and let her out. If she is learning that she is the boss over when she comes out of the crate, she will start learning that whining will get her more treats or food, and problems will just escalate from there. If she learns to respect you during these first few weeks, you will have a lot less behavioral problems in the future.

Cat Training - Coping With Difficult Cats

Cats, being very independent-minded animals, require very different training motivations and methods than dogs, which usually want to please their owners. Training a cat can be frustrating for the new or inexperienced owner, but there are methods that work.

Kitten training is much easier than training an adult cat. If you train a cat while it is young, the cat will remember the training throughout its adult life. There are many ways in which cats can be trained. Contact a professional or visit your local library for advice on training your cat.

Cats enjoy being given toys and treats as rewards for their training. Treats, however, are quickly given and are gone within seconds, while toys can lead to distraction when the cat would rather play with the toy than train. Remember that the average cat's brain is about the size of a peanut, and that cats do not tend to have long attention spans.

Cat training should begin with simple tasks, getting your cat to raise its front paws for a treat is fairly simple, simply wait until the cat is sitting, then hold the treat close above their head. The cat will fairly naturally reach up for the treat.

Repeat this action regularly on a daily basis. Soon your feline will put its paw in the air to meet yours as it approaches their cranium. Soon the same action will occur to receive a reward. This process can also be used to train your animal to sit.

Hold a treat between your cat's front paws while it is sitting down, and your cat will lay down to try to pick up the treat. Start by giving your cat the treat immediately, then wait a bit longer each time. Eventually, your cat will learn to lie down and stay down until you give it the treat.

After the cat learns the behavior, introduce verbal commands associated with that behavior. Consistently verbalize the command after every time the cat performs the action. As this process is repeated over time, the cat learns to identify and associate the command with the desired behavior.

Cat training can be rewarding for both your cat and you. Keep in mind that if your cat isn't having fun, he probably isn't learning anything, so stop when you and your cat get frustrated. Start again when both of you are ready, and you will make better progress.

About the Author

Did you know that it is possible to effectively train a cat? Because cats are independent-minded animals the methods employed in training them differ from traditional dog training methods. You can avoid many frustrations with your furry friend if you begin kitten training as soon as you can. The essential part of cat training at any age involves finding a treat that your cat likes and have plenty of it on hand. Start training with simple non-verbal commands and reward successes with a treat. Once the cat has learned the behavior you can add verbal commands to the mix.

Dog Training Leashes

Leashes, what are they used for? Usually we use dog training leash for training our dogs to walk besides us but the best way to make them at ease on a leash is to make them comfortable with it. Start by making them get used to wearing a dog training collars. Make the collar not too tight but not too loose as well.

There are different types of leashes. We have varieties of leashes because of the different trainings and walks we do with them, as well as we have different other dog training supplies we used. Let's start with the leather leash and how they are effective.

Leather leashes usually last a very long time and will do less damage on your hands during walks or trainings. So when your dogs suddenly pull you and they go make tantrums, you're most likely get less scratches on your palm. But, I can be very honest that they're less affordable. Here are the synthetic leashes, affordable, weightless, and washable, but technically they can scratch your hands if your dog tries to pull; although both of them have an advantage if your dog is a chewer. Chain leashes are the last but not the less to be recommended when purchasing a leash. But because chain leashes are heavy and durable,   they can be an extension and a reinforcement as dog tries to pull away. Dogs have more freedom to walk and roam around with expendable leashes.

So think. Make sure you know what the leashes are for. Will it be for small walks inside the house? Bringing you dog for a run? Or Just a walk in a park. This way you will know what to purchase.

Jack Russell Training: Teach Your Jack Russell To Play Frisbee or Flyball

As dogs originally bred for hunting, Jack Russells are known for being fearless, active, and intelligent dogs. Since they often have a lot of pent up energy, it is best to have them engage in various activities to avoid potentially aggressive or destructive behavior. Common activities for Jack Russells include playing Frisbee or flyball.

Jack Russell training may pose as a challenge to many since most Jack Russells are blatantly strong-willed. However, with patience, the right attitude, and the right technique, Jack Russell training should not be difficult at all. As with any dog training method, be sure to understand the true meaning of being a pack leader. A typical Jack Russell will instinctively try to manhandle its master, but so long as you establish early on that YOU are the pack leader, your Jack Russell will learn to be happy to obey your commands. Just like any other dog, Jack Russells enjoy being able to please their masters.

When it comes to Jack Russell training involving a Frisbee, first, you must introduce the Frisbee as a toy to your dog. It would help to associate the Frisbee with a treat to get your dog excited about the activity you are about to introduce. Once you get your Jack Russell comfortable with the Frisbee, start playing tug-of-war with your Jack Russell using the Frisbee. This encourages the dog to have the Frisbee in its possession whenever possible. Eventually, whenever you throw that Frisbee, your Jack Russell will learn to be more than eager to retrieve it for you.

The next part of this little Jack Russell training bit is to teach your dog to release that Frisbee after retrieving it. You may have noticed how most dogs often retrieve objects and end up simply running away with it. For this activity, you want your Jack Russell to actually bring that Frisbee back to you. Once it retrieves the Frisbee, take it from its mouth and give it a treat. Do not reward your Jack Russell for simply chasing after the Frisbee; give it a treat only when it brings the Frisbee back to you.

Flyball is a dog sport that involves having your Jack Russell race against other dogs along a course that includes a line of hurdles that leads to a box that releases a ball or Frisbee. Your Jack Russel's goal is to retrieve and bring that ball or Frisbee back to you as fast as possible. The same method of Jack Russell training is used in this activity, except that some trainers opt to do it in a backward sequential manner. Meaning, your concern should be getting your dog to retrieve the ball or Frisbee first then having it return to you while passing through the hurdles. Later on, it will be almost second nature to your Jack Russell to go through all those hurdles in order to get to the ball or Frisbee.

Do you know the ideal strategies to regulate fleas on my pet and in my property   by aracely bonelli

Subsequent offer directions is essential when applying over-the-counter solutions and drugs. Only get solutions that happen to be labeled for use within the species you may be using them on (dog, cat, and so on.). Cats in particular are extremely delicate to medicines and chemical compounds - be sure to examine all labels cautiously. Even though labels are go through and recommendations are followed, adverse reactions to flea merchandise can transpire. Connect with your vet immediately. Other sources are Bestial Poison Management Center and Adverse Drug Reporting hotlines.
