Dog Potty Training Tips

Potty Train My Dog - What a Shockingly Simple Way to Potty Train Him!   by Jerry Gazila

I had a very difficult time potty training my dog, Biscoe! Biscoe is a border terrier and I got him from a shelter near my ex- girlfriend's apartment.

See, Biscoe often relieves himself in front of my bedroom door! I have no idea why he treats that particular spot, just inches away from the door, as his toilet area.

Worse still, the odor from his mess almost caused irreversible damage to the delicate nerves in my nose.

I yelled to myself, "THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!" Well...actually I was yelling at Biscoe as well.
So, what did I do to potty train my dog?

Well, in this day and age, we typically go on the internet to look for solutions, right?

Initially I wanted to search for a dog training book at Amazon.com - instead I got side tracked...I ended up at a video sharing site and subsequently redirected to a dog clicker training website.

Now, I ended downloading a detailed dog training e-course from that site. See, it's a clicker training e-course and not only did it help me potty train my dog successfully, it was also instrumental in getting Biscoe to behave appropriately thanks to some very practical behavior shaping and fluency tactics.

You may take a look at the details of this clicker e-course at the end of this article. The methods are suitable for basic dog obedience training, teaching tricks to a dog, retrieve training, and more.

Alright! Listen, if you want a simple way to potty train your dog, then I recommend using a clicker. Here are some tips to help you right away!

1. First, make sure you set up a 'relief area/room' for your dog. And every time you take him to the relief area, use the SAME room access.

2. Now, you have to teach your dog to relate the clicking sound with something pleasant (reward). What you're going to do is give your dog a treat, and when he munches on it you promptly...click!

3. Do the click and treat process a few more times. Experiment placing treats on the floor, on a target stick, etc and click AS SOON AS he eats the treat.

4. Whenever you bring him to the 'relief area', use the potty command repeatedly. If he potties there, you just click the clicker and then praise and/or give him a reward. That's it! That's exactly how I potty train my dog!

Even without any dog training experience, you can still fix your dog's potty issue and many other behavioral problems by referring to the special clicker training methods outlined in this course with videos included.

Just follow this link for download details - -> Downlodable clicker academy E-course. Boy, am I glad that I can now potty train my dog!
