How do i train my 6 month long haired Dotson pup to use training pads then train him to go outside?

ive tried to take him on walks but seems to either be afraid or lazy he sits infront of my lobby door and refuses to talk need help i love my pup

Leash trian him. It will make walks more enjoyable. Take him outside and keep him on a leash. Don't take him for a walk because with the different sights he will be distracted. If he dosn't go potty within 15 mins pick him up put him in a kennel then try agian in 10 mins. Keep doing this and he should get the hang of it. When he goes potty outside PRAISE him like CRAZY.

What breed of dog is right for this household?

we are looking for a dog with a slightly above average energy level that can do well in a more urban area with maybe, a walk and some playtime (i.g. fetching, frisbee, and the usual). we don't care for the size as long as long as it is a small to medium-sized dog. the dog should be not too hard to groom and train, we want it to be fairly Intelligent and calm when I ask it to be. we want it to be a fairly good watch dog. nobody will be around the house from about 8:00 to 4:00 on most weekdays. it can't be too aggressive to other animals and people. something we can cuddle up to. thanks
