Dog Training Made Easy - For You And Your Pooch!

Every dog needs to be trained at some point to ensure that they behave in ways that are beneficial to themselves and their family. You will find helpful advice about dog training in this article.
Dogs have natural destructive behavior, so provide outlets for them to exercise their natural behaviors. Dogs also need to be fed a healthy diet, get exercise, and be kept busy, just as you do. When you begin house training, select a phrase to use repeatedly with your pet. When you are outside with the puppy, say the chosen phrase to keep him focused on the task he is to accomplish. You need to leash train your dog. This will make your walks together a pleasure and not a source of frustration. Harnesses are not as uncomfortable as a collar for the dog, but a harness offers less control for the owner, making training the dog more difficult. Use a combination of a collar and a harness, and only tug on the collar if it is really needed. This will teach your dog to obey you while harnessed.
Having more than one dog to train at a time will be a challenge. If you attempt to train your dogs at the same time and notice that they are not able to concentrate the way that you want them to, you may need to train them separately.
It's important to use treats that really capture your dog's full attention when training. Great treats such as small pieces of cheese or a dab of peanut butter can go a long way. Keep track of the number of treats you give your dog. Your dog needs to watch his weight, too. Many people overlook treats when considering the animal's diet, but they certainly add up, especially during active training. Have several different treats available as rewards for your dog so he doesn't get bored. Training treats should not become confused with everyday treats, since training treats are meant to encourage obedience in your dog.
It is natural for a teething puppy to want to chew things. It is up to you to remove things from his reach when you are away and can't correct him. If you cannot do this, then make rooms that have valuable items in them inaccessible. Most dogs have anxiety as a reason for chewing. Dogs like to den up. Giving him a crate to lie in and a toy to chew on will make your dog feel secure and keep him occupied.
Training depends on consistency. You need to be the one in charge at all times. To keep your training on track, it's important to only issue commands when you into to follow through with receiving the expected behavior from your pet. You should not initiate a training session unless you are in a calm and patient mood. Be patient when training your puppy, so you can both stay focused.
If all else fails, an expert will be needed. Try taking obedience classes to make your dog become more obedient. Instructors have been trained to deal with all sorts of behavioral problems, and can even help you to learn the best ways to maintain a training routine. If you are thinking of hiring an animal specialist, be sure that you check their reputation and interview them thoroughly. There are a lot of different approaches taken by dog trainers concerning how to correctly train a dog. Understand the trainers philosophy so that you can be sure the trainers approach is similar with your own views of dog training.
Untrained or poorly trained dogs can wreak havoc on your home and drive you crazy in the process. By taking to heart the advice contained here, you will be well on your way to training your dog in the skills he needs to be a well-mannered pup.

Get Rid of your Pup's Bad Attitude with Puppy Training

You've recently got the cutest puppy ever and you can't help but be a doting pet owner. But when your pet turns out to be misbehaving, he or she is not that cute anymore. Subjecting your pet to puppy training could be the best thing that you could ever do for your pet and this article will tell you why.

What exactly is dog obedience training as it is more popularly called? Basically, it is a way of teaching dogs how to follow instructions, tricks, and other skills while making use of some tried and tested training techniques. These could include behavioral training techniques, house training, or protection training.

Most trainers suggest that dogs undergo training early on in their lives, but that doesn't mean that you cannot give older dogs training. In fact, these trainers can teach dogs of any age, it is just a matter of using different techniques depending on a dog's age.

Dog training has a lot of good benefits and here are a few of them:

1.       It creates an excellent dog-owner relationship. You and your dog will take the journey together so it is a great bonding moment between you and your pet.

2.      It basically creates opportunities for you and your pet dog to communicate well. Isn't it great to know the meaning of some of the actions by dog?

3.      Having your dog undergo puppy training is the perfect way to prevent your dog from developing unacceptable behavior or bad habits.

4.      Obedience training always proves to be beneficial for new pet owners. The training helps your new pet dog learn what his or her owner expects from him or her. Training ensures a healthy relationship between the owner and the pet.

5.      It is always nice to see a dog learn new tricks, like picking up your morning newspaper or learning where he or she is supposed to pee. Nothing is more fun than to show off your pet to your friends perform some interesting tricks.

It is sad to know that there are dogs out there that have never undergone the proper dog training. There are some pet owners who have failed to recognize the importance of giving their dogs the proper training they need. Dogs, like humans, can be frustrated, too – not knowing what they need to or what their owners wants from them can take its toll of your pet, as well. A happy pet makes a happy owner!

Dog & Puppy Training Tips

Many dog owners don't properly train their puppies and end up living with a very misbehaved dog in the house. A lot of people underestimate the responsibility of owning a dog and never bother with proper training. However, if you don't properly train your dog to obey you then you're going to have a big problem.

Dog training isn't difficult you just have to know the basic concepts and implement them. On top of that, you need to keep consistent with your training in order to acieve success. If you attempt to train your dog how to sit and give up after a day or two you'll never be able to train your dog with the best training guide in the world. That's simply because there is no easy way to do it, you just need the RIGHT information and keep implementing it over and over.

Knowledge and repetitiveness is the key, and I'm going to share some of the knowledge you need to know to train your dog. The basic training method is called the positive reinforcement method which simply means that you reward your puppy for doing something right. This will give your puppy a mental note "chew on this toy and I get rewards". So your puppy will learn that he only gets praise and reward for chewing the RIGHT toy. That way, your puppy will stop chewing the toys that aren't rewarding (such as your shoes, socks, etc).

So what else does this method works for? Anything at all! You can use the same method to stop your puppy from biting, barking, train your puppy how to sit, come, fetch, speak, stop pulling on the leash, and anything else that you ever wanted to train your puppy!

If training so so easy why doesn't everyone do it? First off, not everyone knows even the general rules how to train a dog. Second, not everyone is willing to keep consistent with the training which will result in a fail. And lastly, some breeds of dogs are easier to train than others, so that's another major factor that plays a role in dog training.

Bottom line is, training your dog isn't difficult but knowing the right information and keeping consistent on the daily basis can be. So learn the correct information first before attempting to train your puppy.

Puppy Training

A dog can make a fantastic family pet and often becomes simply another member of your family. However if a dog is badly behaved or does not do what it is told then it can be much harder work than you need it to be to own a dog.

Whilst it can be hard to teach an old dog new tricks, puppies are usually very keen to learn new tricks especially if the training is gone about in the right way. If you train your puppy correctly then they will see being well behaved as the norm and this will make your life much easier. However training a puppy is not always easy and is not something that we all have the time and patience to do.

Instead what you should do is look at getting some expert puppy training. That way you can be sure that your puppy is trained as quickly and as easily as possible with as little disruption to you as possible. You can simply book your pet into some puppy training classes and they can be taught the proper way to behave. You will be thankfully in years to come when you have a dog that is well behaved and you don't have to worry about the state of your home when you come in from a day out and your dog has gone wild.

Remember of course that it's also about making life with a puppy easier. With the right puppy training you can make sure that your puppy is litter tray trained as soon as possible and is well enough behaved to know not to chew things or break things when they are left unattended.

Puppy training is available all over and so finding someone that can help you with this should not be too much of a chore. A quick look on Google should be enough to point you in the right direction and help you find the dog training classes that you need to get your puppy started in the right direction and get them behaving as well as possible as soon as possible.

Dog Training Crate

dog training crate
Should I leave some water in the dog crate (crate training)?

I am trying to potty train my dog. I was told to leave her in a crate while I am away at work and let her out when I get home so she learns to go outside. I have tried many other methods like rubbing her face in it and spanking her and nothing worked. Since I am away for 18 hours at a time, would it be a good idea to leave a little bowl of water in her cage or would that complicate the training since drinking would make her want to go potty more?

you should leave water in her cage because that is a long time for a dog to be with out water. I really hope you mean 8 hours at a time not 18 because if for some reason it is 18 you may want to consider putting your dog into doggy day care.

Dog Classes

Training the Fear-Filled Dog

Training your dog boils down to one concept—associating pleasure with good behaviour. By that, I mean rewards and positive response from you quickly trains a dog to behave in the desired way in order to win those rewards and positive reactions.

This dog training concept extends to dogs which, for whatever reason, react in fear to relatively benign incidents, such as loud noises, power tools, appliances, etc. The idea is to create an association in their minds between something pleasurable or exciting and whatever it is that's causing them to react in fear.

If your dog has any irrational fears, or fears stemming from a scary experience, you need to address this immediately to avoid a dog who perpetually feels stressed. A well-trained dog is a happy, calm dog.

Say, for example, your dog is afraid to ride in the car. This is particularly the case when owners only take their dogs in the car when it's time to go to the vet. The first step is to encourage and reward your dog for sitting calmly next to the car. Get him accustomed to the idea of being near the car without having to actually get inside.

Once he can approach the car without being frightened, sit with him on the back seat of the car. (If he sits in the boot, climb in beside him.) Take a favourite toy and be sure to have lots of treats handy. Take a book or magazine to read and just relax, rewarding him for sitting calmly. You want to do this dog obedience training exercise a number of times to reinforce the idea that there's nothing to be frightened of.

The next stage is to start the car and let it idle. Reassure him with lots of petting and stroking, again, rewarding him when he sits calmly. Once you can progress to travelling, be sure to take him only on rides to a local park or someplace where the destination is fun for him. The idea is to train him that the car is associated with fun and pleasure.

The same dog training can be applied to fears stemming, for example, from loud noises. This is easier if you have a partner. Your partner recreates the noise, not too loudly and ideally in another room to start. Make sure you have plenty of tantalizing treats, such as bite-sized pieces of cheese. Let him smell one before you start to be sure you have his attention. When your partner makes the noise, the treat should be in your hand. Give him the treat at the same moment he hears the noise.

When the dog's ready, have your partner move closer until ultimately the noise occurs right next to him. Eventually, you will train your dog to ignore the noise completely because it has now been associated with something positive and pleasurable. He'll have put those fears and stress behind him forever.

In this case it is ok to use treats because you are specifically trying to change a strong behaviour. Also by only using treats in certain areas of training there effect is stronger than if you use treats all the time.

Pet Care and Veterinary Care for Puppies and Dogs in Tampa FL

Every prospective dog owner in Wesley Chapel, Hillsborough County, Pasco County and Tampa 33613, and anywhere else in the United States for that matter, should know about proper pet care and veterinary care for puppies and dogs.

When the puppy is first taken to its new home it should immediately be taught crate training. The puppy should be made to feel comfortable in any contained space so that it could be left there safely overnight and during certain times of the day when it has to be left without human supervision. Keeping the puppy confined ensures that it will not get into accidents in the home which may endanger its life or health. This practice also protects the home from the puppy's natural curiosity and inclination to scratch, chew and jump on things.

The puppy should also be housebroken immediately. This means toilet training the puppy to go either at a certain spot outdoors or a special designated spot indoors. It should be taken to the chosen spot at the times of day that it is expected to do its toilet. Every time the puppy complies it should be praised profusely to create a habit.

Obedience training is also very important. The puppy should learn how to obey commands and socialize well with other people and other animals.

Also as soon as the puppy is brought home, it should be taken to the veterinarian for a complete check up. The veterinarian will give it all the required shots and will schedule all other necessary vaccines against dangerous diseases. Likewise the veterinarian will free the puppy from parasites like fleas and ticks which can be just as dangerous.

If the dog is not intended for breeding, you should also consult your veterinarian on spaying or neutering to avoid surprises.

One of the very first things that a dog owner should do is, therefore, to choose a highly experienced and skilled veterinarian from a reputable full service veterinary clinic or animal hospital in Wesley Chapel, Hillsborough County, Pasco County and Tampa 33613 that is easily accessible. This is necessary to ensure that all of the dog's veterinary needs are taken care of. The most established animal hospitals serve many kinds of pets such as dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rodents, fish and rabbits. The veterinary clinic should provide medical consultations, routine check ups, emergency health care services, laboratory analysis, medical diagnostics, surgical procedures and laser surgery.

It would be good to find an animal clinic that also provides pet boarding for those instances when the owner has to go out of town. Leaving your dog for pet boarding in the familiar animal clinic will give you peace of mind and lessen the dog's anxiety.

With proper knowledge on the pet care needs and veterinary needs of puppies and dogs, a pet lover will be equipped to raise his or her own dog lovers in Wesley Chapel, Hillsborough County, Pasco County and Tampa 33613. It is always best to work with a reputable and respected veterinarian at a full service animal clinic.

how to paper and house train puppy?

I am going to get a new puupy in about 2 weeks. But I dont know how to paper and house train the dog at the same time. And I know how to house break a puppy already. I just need help with both!

Don't.
Pads and Papers don't work. Get a crate and housebreak the dog properly to go outside. Cleaning up poop and piss on the floor for any size dog really sucks.

Crate Training Dogs

crate training dogs
Where's the best room to keep a crate-trained dog? Should two crate-trained dogs be kept in the same room?

I just rescued a crate-trained, fixed, nine month old, female Puggle. My roomate has a 2 year old, not-fixed, female Chiuaua that is also crate-trained. Should I keep their crates in the living room together or should I keep my dog in my room? I don't necessarily have a problem with her not being in a crate, but she loves it, and goes in of her own accord. Also, it wouldn't really be fair to my roomate's dog. I don't know what to do... any suggestions?

Crate training is one of the kindest things a person can do for their dogs..any dog. Simply put, dogs are den animals, they And it doesn't surprise me that your dog loves it. Location of the crate is really personal. I use an upstairs room that has lots of light, and a window, so that if I have company that is afraid of my dog * a golden retriever, lol * or someone that just doesn't like animals that much, the dogs are out of the way, and don't feel too left out.
What location works best for you? I would think two dogs in crates in the same room, might get them "speaking to eachother " very loudly . I think if I were you the crate would be in my room... as long as she has access to it when she wants.

Sports Summer Camps in the Bay Area

Looking for fun ways to keep your kids out and about this summer? Try a sports camp! The health benefits of a sports camp are obvious, but a good camp will also teach kids how to integrate the life skills reflected by the sport of their choice.  Not to mention that camp provides great opportunities for kids to make new friends and excel at their favorite sport. Here are two great summer camps Bay Area sports enthusiasts keep returning to every year.

California Adventure Summer Day Camps

Let your kids enjoy the best sports offered in the Bay Area at California Adventure Summer Day Camps. Their summer programs are geared towards kids of varying interests and skill levels.  Beginner and intermediate players ages 5 -13 can master any of the following sports: soccer, flag football, baseball, tackle football, and basketball.  Budding football stars might want to try the Quarterback/Receiver camp, a non-contact, no-pads camp that emphasizes footwork, blocking, throwing, catching, and agility training.  As for kids who prefer their skateboards to organized sports, California Adventure also has a summer skateboarding camp open to kids age 6 – 16.  Campers not only get to perfect their skills and tricks at local skate parks and weekly trips to Water World; they'll also be coached by some of the best skaters in the Bay Area. What more could a child want?

Golden Eagle All-Sports Camp

Kids don't have to excel in a single sport in order to benefit from a sports camp. If you want your child to spend the summer enjoying the great outdoors and staying physically fit, consider a general sports camp.  At Golden Eagle All-Sports Camp, your child will spend several weeks being active and having fun as he or she tries a variety of activities. Campers between the ages 5 and 13 spend the entire day enjoying tennis, golf, swimming, chess, checkers, and much more at the camp's highly interactive environment.  Kids will be split according age groups so they'll have an easier time making friends, and they get to choose between two activities for each period.  In between activities, happy campers get to enjoy popsicle breaks, lunch, free swim, and traditional camp activities.  And on Fridays, the whole camp gets to feast on a hot dog barbecue and a watermelon feed! For thousands of local kids, Golden Eagle All-Sports Camp is the best thing about summer. Sign your child up today!

Euro School of Tennis

Budding tennis pros might want to spend their summer at the Euro School of Tennis, where they half-day camp program for kids age 6 to 15. Beginning and advanced players spend their entire morning developing fundamental techniques or advancing their gameplay while making new friends on the side.  Your child will spend each day developing a different technique – forehand and backhand on Mondays, volleys and serves on Tuesdays, review of all major strokes on Wednesdays, footwork and recovery shots on Thursdays, and tennis tactics on Fridays.

Train Puppy Biting

How to Stop Dachsund Puppy Biting

Dachshunds are an old German dog breed, bred to pursue badgers. They needed to be able to work alone, be brave and intelligent so they could chase down and kill their prey. These characteristics can still be seen today in Dachshunds, showing themselves in behaviors including barking and biting. They can rapidly become problematic if Dachshunds are not well taught as puppies. The first time you see any sort of dominance or aggression in your Dachshund puppy, especially biting, must take action.

Often owners will express amusement at their Dachshund puppy biting them, thinking it is amusing or endearing. What they don't realize is that these small nips are shows of dominance that can grow to outright aggression later on in life. The final consequence is that dogs end up being taken to a shelter or, even worse, being put to sleep.

Start Young
Before you adopt a Dachshund puppy go and look at a few litters. Note how the puppies play and test out behaviors with, and get feedback from, each other. With puppy biting watch how if one puppy nips another, the one who was nipped will most likely bite back.  This lets the first puppy know that biting is not acceptable and, after a few repetitions, the behavior stops and the puppy understands not to bite.

After you bring your Dachshund puppy home you have to be constant and not let the biting restart. The initial occasion you notice your Dachshund puppy biting you must take action and begin training. In young puppies the biting you glimpse is still play biting, testing out behaviors to glimpse which are reasonable and which are not. Never hit any Dachshund, especially not a young puppy. They are still in their socialization and learning stage and will not recognize what has happened. Striking Dachshund puppies will just startle them and might result in further behavioral issues later in life.

The best technique to stop Dachshund puppy biting is to provide unambiguous, straightforward guidance and be consistent. Use positive training techniques. Reward progress and behaviors you desire, and be certain that everybody involved with your Dachshund is on the same page and not providing mixed messages. Think about your daily interactions with your Dachshund puppy.  If you have an issue with Dachshund puppy biting then you may want to stop any games of tug.  Dachshunds still have a hunting urge and can be rather ferocious when  grabbing and pulling on a tug toy.

Stopping a Dachsund Puppy from Biting
When your Dachshund puppy nips you is your first thought to hit them?  If so, think again, this is not the right action to take. The best thing to do is to demonstrate to them biting is not all right. Say "No" in a firm tone, or make a loud yelp (this is an effective way to interrupt biting as it mimics the sound that another puppy would make when bitten). Give them one of their own toys to play with, praising them when they start to chew it.

If you are consistent with this approach you will soon observe that your Dachshund puppy stops biting you, only chewing on their toys.  You can use this method with any dog of any age, however it may take longer before you see results if your Dachsund is older.

If your Dachsund is more aggressive than just giving the odd nip or gentle bite you have to go to puppy or dog training classes or get the advice of a veterinary behaviorist. Training programs offer an environment where your Dachshund can be well socialized with new dogs and people, and where your Dachshund puppy biting problem can be addressed by a professional. As a responsible Dachshund owner you need to provide for the physical and mental wellbeing of your Dachsund.  This involves training them and addressing any problems that arise before they become severe.

About the Author

Working on issues such as Dachshund puppy biting as they evolve will develop the bond you have with your Dachshund as well as reducing the chance of more significant issues later in life.

Top Five Doberman Puppy Training Tips To Success

Are you praising your Doberman puppy during Doberman puppy training? Learn five steps how to do the Doberman puppy training in this article.

Doberman puppy training is the most essential type of training that you can give your Doberman puppy. It is the best training you can do at the earliest age possible because they are still exploring and learning new things. While they are young, they are more receptive to the things their owners have taught them. For that reason, it is important that they should be given proper Doberman training to help them develop good habits of obedience and positive behaviors in the long run.

However, I must warn you that Doberman puppies are like children. They are fun loving, have lively spirits and very energetic that they may overpower you. They love to run, jump and play with you and other pets. Good thing praise method works out best for them. This method has long been used as a part of the Doberman puppy training in order for them to be motivated to follow your commands and do desirable behaviors to please you and get their rewards.

Again, like young kids, Doberman puppies are praise seeking dogs. The owner must learn how to give praise properly during the Doberman training. Here is a list of Doberman puppy training tips that you must follow:

Doberman puppy training tip one: Observe carefully. It is very important to observe the qualities of your own Doberman puppy for you to know the right timing of giving them praise during the Doberman puppy training. Dobermans may have different personalities. That's why their level of temperament may also vary.

Some of them are passive and aloof with other dogs, while others are too playful, hyperactive and aggressive. You will never know when they can get dangerous or when they can still be manageable if you are not watchful with your Doberman puppy..

Doberman puppy training tip two: Praise quickly. Once you're done observing and have already identified the personalities of your own Doberman puppy, you can proceed with the giving praise strategy. For instance, you can give a clap or a pat only after your Doberman puppy has done properly the task you commanded. Do not entertain his own demands. Be firm and consistent with your commands but maintain the gentle mood.

Never hit nor shout at your Doberman. They are very sensitive and can be easily depressed. Moreover, they can develop negative behaviors if you push them to follow you by hurting them physically.

Doberman puppy training tip three: Verbal praise. Verbal praise in Doberman puppy training is usually done through cheering, and saying positive words like "Very good", "Good job" and "Excellent" with a big smile on the trainer's face. Ususally this is given first before physical praise.

However, the trainer must be balanced between giving verbal and physical praises. It is because too much emphasis of verbal praises will sometimes be interpreted by your Doberman puppy as part of the normal routine in the training. The result would be their longing for it as a motivation will decrease. When motivation disappears their focus and attention to the training will also disappear.

Doberman puppy training tip four: Physical praise. This praising method is a complement of the verbal praise. This includes gestures like hugging, kissing and patting your Doberman puppy every after they have done a wonderful task.

Actions still create a lasting impression on your Doberman puppy. The words of praise that a trainer will say to his pet must be converted into definite actions so that he will associate this as something that tells him that you are pleased with him.

Doberman puppy training tip five: Provide treats. This is the last step in Doberman puppy training.Treats are used as a form of reward and a manifest expression that you are pleased with the behavior of your Doberman puppy. This is an effective tool that you can use the next time you give commands.

However, I would like to take note that treats are just temporary tools for you to get their attention. This is not good to use as a tool for a long time. Your Doberman puppy must learn to follow your instructions without the need for any treats in the long run.

Doberman puppies are very cuddly and loveable. There are surely bigger chances for them to grow well-rounded, responsible dogs with proper Doberman puppy training methods.

Crate Training

crate training
crate training?

a have one of those adjustable crates according to size and im about to crate training my dog wat size should i adjust it to?so she has lots of room or just enough?also can anyone give me tips on doing this?

Give her just enough room to turn around in (dogs have to turn around before they lay down - some primeval instinct) and no more. Keep her in the crate anytime you are not with her until training is done. After you feed her or she has had a big drink, take her out for 10 or 15 minutes. When you come home, take her out. When she first wakes up, take her out. Before bedtime, take her out. If she has an accident, take her out and then put her back into the crate. When you let her out of the crate, take her out (notice a trend here?). The basic fact behind all this is that a dog will not pee or mess in its sleeping area. I know it seems repetitive, but just keep it up. Some dogs learn in two weeks and for some it may take months. Don't give up and you'll have a completely housebroken dog before terribly long.

Puppy Training Techniques - 4 Essential Things I Had To Learn

Getting a new puppy was almost as exciting as getting a new baby in our family.  I learned that the puppy training techniques you use can have a significant impact on how happy you and the dog will be.

When the little dog arrives It can be an exciting time for for the family and the puppy will be confused by the excitement but it will love the attention as it gets used to the new environment and people in his life.  Just like with a new baby, you can get lots of advice on puppy training techniques, but if you are like most of us, you will learn as you go.  Hopefully, you will make the little animals transition into your family a pleasant one for both of you.

It is a sadthing that puppies do not come potty trained.  At first they will go whenever and whereever they feel the urge.  Since they are usually in the house, that is where the accidents happen, on the carpet or in an out of the way area that you discover after the fact.

To make the puppy a happy family member, potty training the puppy is the first consideration.  How you train and the puppy training techniques you use makes a lot of difference in how well you puppy adjusts to the family and how much you enjoy your puppy.  Most effective trainers recommend a lot of positive reinforcement when training an animal and avoid anything that punishes the animal when they make a mistake or have an accident.  It is sort of like dealing with people.  Everybody responds better to positive things.

We have always had dogs around, but my parents never let a dog live in the house.  Today, our dogs are considered part of a family and share the house with us.  This means they have to behave in a manner that makes it pleasant to have them around.  No toilet accidents in the house, no jumping on people and curb the barking.  Just ordinary things we expect of all members of our family.  Dogs must be trained to have basic obedience and good behaviors they need to be accepted into a family.  The earlier you can start this training, the easier it is on your dog and your family and training has to be an ongoing process.  You can never stop training and working with your pet.

This being said, dogs, like people, will develop bad habits that are unacceptable and this can make them unpleasant to be around and some people correct the problem by getting rid of the animal.  It is a fact that older puppies or adult dogs that are not housebroken are harder to train because they have to unlearn habits that have become ingrained over time.  While it may be more difficult, there are some keys to successful training techniques that can be used to help ensure success.

1.  The most important thing is effective communication with your pet.  Every animal gives signs to communicate when it needs to go potty.  When you learn these signs, and it can be any thing from going to the door to wandering around the house to pacing, you will be dog years ahead on keeping the dog from making a mess that upsets you and causes the animal a lot of stress.

2.  Consistency and positive reinforcement are vital in the training process.  Whether it is toilet training or learning to sit or whatever, you have to use the same commands in the same tone of voice.  Animals learn by consistently repeating the process and associate a positive outcome, either praise or a treat or both, with the correct behavior.  Always praise good behaviors and avoid or limit the negative response for bad behavior.  And, it is very important that everybody in the family participate in training and use the same techniques and commands to avoid confusing the dog.

3.  Timing is a key consideration to house breaking your puppy is timing and creating a routine that the animal will follow.  Routine is important to your dog.  Feed your dog at the same times and in the same place everyday. Let your puppy outside to do his business is important to establishing a life-long routine that will make your dog happier and keep the cleanups in the house to a minimum.   Dogs, especially puppies, have to go to the toilet when they get up, after they eat and probably several other times during the day and just before they go to bed.  It is most important to establish a routine thatyou and the animal can live with and make it easier for you to potty train your dog.

4.  Part of the routine is to establish boundaries for your pet inside the house and outside in the yard.  Restrict your dog to certain parts of the house such as spare bedrooms, pantries and garages. This is a very effective method to control where accidents will happen when you cannot get them outside.  When you take your pet out, show him where it is acceptable for him to go to the toilet.  Your dog will learn to go to the toilet in a specific part of the yard and if nothing else, this will  make cleaning up the yard a lot easier.

Training a dog or other animal is not difficult, but most of us do not have a clue as to how or where to start.  I have learned that persistence, patience and consistency are all key parts of the process and reinforcement is always necessary.  When the first puppy behavioral problems come up, the must be addressed immediately.

Corrective training that is started started early has a much better chance to change unwanted behavior if you want to keep the adorable pet you start with.  There are many training techniques and most can easily be used successfully to train your puppy.  All of them use positive reinforcement and reward to get the best results.  Most people can learn this on their own, but it is easier if you get training tips from a professional trainer.  There are several good books available, but if you can find a trainer that will show you the training techniques as well as tell you it makes it a lot easier to learn how to train your puppy.

If you are having trouble training your puppy, getting help from a nationally recognized trainer may be the first step to success. There is no shortage of dog trainers.  Each one has slightly different techniques and all claim that theirs is the simplest, fastest, and easiest method.  Since it's so important to get off on the right foot (no pun intended), how do you know which trainer's program to use.  After all, it is your money, and you want to get your money's worth.  The answer is fairly simple, find a nationally recognized trainer who will tell and show you how to train your puppy or dog and get a money back guarantee. Try it out for a few weeks and if you are not happy with the results, ask for your money back.

Training a dog to have good manners and respect your home is an important part of making your dog an acceptable and loving part of your family.  There is nothing worse than having an animal that stops being a pet and starts being hard to be around.  Don't leave it to chance.  The sooner you start training your puppy with patience, persistence and consistency, the sooner your pet will become a happy member of your family that you will enjoy for many years.

Crate Training Dog

crate training dog
What is the best way to house train a dog? I have heard about crate training, but...?

In the past I have used paper training and frequent walks.
What has worked best for you?

I have four dogs and with each we tried something different...

- take the dog out for a walk right after meals and if the dog is pacing
- hang a bell by a string on whatever door you use to take the dog out and ring it everytime you take the dog out, eventually the dog will ring the bell whenever he/she wants to go out
- use paper or "wee-wee" pads and slowly transfer them outside so that the dog learns where to go
- if you have an older dog walk the puppy with the older dog; the puppy will watch the older dog and follow what he/she does

no matter what you do always praise the dog afterwords by either petting him/her or giving him/her a treat

Benefit of Dog training Schools

Which one is better? Regular dog training schools or online free dog training materials, videos, book.

Dogs are trained to behave well with the obedience training and remove bad behaviors and also be socialized with other dogs and people in regular dog training schools. Commonly trainers put the smart dogs ahead of the pack as the leader and act as example of good behavior.

Since the old time dog training schools are well known as one of the best ways to train and teach a dog whether it is adult or young puppy. Dog training schools commonly teach obedience training and agility training for exercise and for competition in special classes.

If you are having a new puppy or adult dog to be trained for the first time which mean they have never been trained before, it is recommended for you to put the dogs at dog training schools for better result on training. It is true that dog training books, E-book on internet and even videos of training dogs can be much help when you train the dogs, but usually beginner dog owner don't really understand what to do without direct guidance from the real trainer.

Dog training schools can give the new dog owners much experience in knowing their dogs deeper than before. They can learn about dog psychology and how to socialize the dogs with other dogs, especially for young puppies. With the obedience training, dog

Owner can join the training directly with the trainer and their dogs, this will make the bond between dogs and the owners much stronger.

In these dog training schools, the trainers train not only the dogs but also the dog owner. Because dogs have natural habit to obey the pack leader, and this should be the dog owner not the trainers. So the dog owner need to learn how to train their dogs at home, the troubleshooting that can be happened, and the command used on training.

Dogs' socialization is also performed at dog training schools, because it is important for young puppy to get socialized with another dogs and people when growing up to be a well-behaved and friendly one with other dogs. Aggressive and shy dogs exist just because they were isolated in the house or kennels and have never been socialized with other dogs which make them react so weird around other dogs.

Dog training schools are very good place to start training and socialize the dogs in safe environment and supervised by professional trainers and experienced staff. In fact dog training schools make beginner-dog owners together with  their dogs learn so fast, easier and effectively from the classes more than from dog training books, videos, and other online resources. It is because in dog training schools they are directly trained by professional dog trainers and they also ready to solve any problems just in time when happened on the training.

Benefits and disadvantages of dog training schools, dog training videos, books and online resources.

Learning at dog training schools got benefit on having professional dog trainers at our side to teach us and the dogs. We can learn about dog psychology, hand signals and commands used for obedience and also learn how to correct the misbehaviors. The disadvantages of dog training schools maybe the high price of dog training schools for some people that can't afford with.

Dog training books got much information about dog training that sometimes being skipped at the classes because of the limited time from trainers. Commonly dog training books tell about the dog's psychology in deep concern. Sometimes dog that has accomplished from the dog training schools still have little problems at home. This can be solve by reading the dog training books about the problems and train the dog directly.

Some dog owners hard to imagine the hand signals from the books and have no time to attend the dog training schools can learn from the dog training videos. The videos will show you how to train and act on the right way, although sometimes the video has bad sound output, you can learn by following what the trainers are doing. The disadvantage is you can't ask questions if you don't understand the videos.

You can find good dog training schools by asking to other dog owners that have joined the dog training schools before. Testimonials are always better than promotions.
