Properly Trained Dogs   by Cayla Young

It has been shown in animal behavioral science and among most trainers that dogs and other animals work better for reward than out of fear of the handler. By closely observing animals and developing the ability to understand these little miracles, we can better understand life, our own behavior, other people, and the cultures we live with. - That your behavior is that of a higher status animal.

Animal

The animal need not be bathed daily and this helps to protect the skin's characteristics like insulation feature. As pack animals, wild dogs have natural instincts that favor cooperation with their fellow dogs. Studies have found that "when a pregnant animal is petted her litter is more docile (Denenberg and Whimbey 1963, in Fox 1978). Anti-electronic training campaigns highlight the danger of static stimulation in the hands of irresponsible pet owners resulting in an aggressive or severely stressed animal. Although the static current is not high enough to burn an animal, a collar that is neglectfully cared for can cause painful necrosis on the neck due to collars being too tight or left on the animal too long. Due to their natural social structure -- which is territorial and protective of companions -- even companion animals will exhibit some form of alert behaviors toward intruders. However true guard dogs and police dogs are dedicated animals in the sense that they are not simultaneously intended to be companion animals. Properly trained animals will guard on command and then when commanded to "out" will approach and accept in a friendly manner those that may have attempted to gain entry, cause harm or steal protected items. There are several methods regarding the training of guard animals, western (e. The Schutzhund method also contains a portion relating to protection, and generally means the animal will bite on command, and will not release until commanded. Assistance dogs, such as guide and hearing dogs, are carefully trained to utilize both their sensory skills and the protective instincts of dogs (as pack animals) to bond with a human and help that person to offset a disability in daily life. Unfortunately most people respond to a jumping dog by either petting the animal in a misguided attempt to calm it down, or by first pushing the animal down and then petting it. For example, to have a dog that heels nicely when out for a walk, comes when called (which can save the dogs life), does a nice down-stay when waiting in the animal hospital reception room, does a stand-stay when being groomed, a sit-stay in the elevator, etc. It has little to do with education of an animal, but it does have a lot to do with our egos, our assignment of importance to relatively unimportant actions, and our own deeply seated beliefs about animals.

Dogs are pack animals & need leadership. The canine species is our best animal friend because dogs are so willing to live with humans and respond to our commands. It takes you through the steps of finding the right dog for you and for your family; is it going to be a purebred or a mutt from the animal shelter. Modern dog training uses the positive reward system a technique favored by most animal trainers.

House Training Dog - Dog Training and Puppy Training

People admire a dog as pet as well as a faithful companion but without any kind of training what so ever, a dog will behave just like an animal unless he is taught by someone, his owner. All the dog owners must house train their dogs as no one would appreciate his or her pet doing business inside their house. Proper housekeeping training is to be given to a dog with which he understands when and where he has to eliminate. Dogs must be taught the rules of the house if the owner wants to make his life easier and less worried with his dog. Besides that a house trained dog is less likely to create any trouble for the owner and other people in the surroundings.

Many animals including dogs do not usually eliminate at places where they sleep unless they are confined to that place for longer periods. Dog owner should make the best use of this natural habit of his pet and utilize in order to benefit from it. If the dog is under 12 weeks old, it is best to house train him by starting crate training. A crate is similar to a cage with a front door made of bars. These are made not to punish or confine a pet for long but they are utilized for making the dog understand what a house is like. A crate might be considered as a bedroom for the dog with just enough space inside so that the dog can stand turn around and even play with his toys. Remember not to confine your dog in a crate for more than an hour or two.

Dogs love to follow people specially their owners and if you will not train him which way is the way out, he might follow you in your bathroom as he has no idea what you want from him. For example you are getting late to go outside to take your dog for a walk and you want to get dressed but your dog keeps following you instead going outside and waiting for you there.

The solution to this problem is to always use the same door to take your dog outside. Make sure you never allow him to use other doors for exiting. This is a very basic yet very important dog house training technique that always works as dogs love to follow rules as they are pack animals in which each member is assigned a role to perform. This is something that they have by birth, you just need to work on it a little more according to your house rules and settings.

During house training, many dog owners do not praise or reward their dogs whenever they obey and follow commands. Although it is not necessary to do this all the time. But it helps a lot during the training periods as the dog knows what he is doing correctly for getting all the love and affection and some treat as well. This technique is very essential and you will notice a considerable improvement in your dog behavior once you continue to reward him for his obedience.

People ask when is the best time to train a dog for your house. The best time to train a dog of any age is NOW. Many dog owners are lazy when it comes to house train a dog as this neglected behavior will soon be causing more problems for both the owners and he dog.
