Can you take two dogs(one puppy and one an adult) to the same obedience training classes?
I have a five year old Jack Russel with very good habits but no official training, I am getting a puppy to be a companion for her because I work during the day. I want to put the puppy in obedience training but I think that my Jack might get alot out of classes as well.
I thinkit would be ok just they need individual training

Dogs and cats can develop fears of certain noises, human beings, and different objects. A fear of specific things can lead to inappropriate growling, snapping, urinating, and scratching. Your god or cat may injure itself while panicking during one of their fear attacks. All animals should be desensitized to their fears before is becomes a major problem.
Fearful behavior is normally caused by the following: • Invasion of personal space • Previous abuse • The lack of pleasant experiences with people at a young age
Lack of positive socialization can cause a pet to be afraid of people and other animals outside of the family. It is best to train your pet to interact with others when they are still young. Fearful behavior should be dealt with way before biting or snapping occurs. If this type of behavior has already occurred, consult with a behaviorist immediately.
Loud noises, such as doorbells, school buses, and thunder can also cause a pet to become apprehensive. To reinforce the behavior, console your pet during the situations. Negatively punishing the pet does nothing to address the fear itself. Never reward inappropriate actions with treats and praise.
If you are unsure of how to handle your pet's fearful behavior, talk to a behavior specialist or your veterinarian who is able to prescribe anti-anxiety medications to help during the behavior modification.

Dog Obedience Training - How to go about starting your dogs training
Obedience training of a dog takes a primary role in the future of your dog and your relationship with your dog. It is what molds a character and personality of your dog ,and it depends on how you train your dog.
There are many advantages as to how dog obedience training can lead to a healthy relationship with you and your dog. For one thing dogs form a bond of trust and loyalty in your. They also will not indulge in any improper behavior like unwanted barking, chewing, etc. A clear communication can be formed with your furry friend through this training. Note: Please note that puppies are relatively easier to train than mature dogs as they don't know anything other than what we tell them. Whereas older dogs already would have already formed a set of rules on their own based on where they lived previously and so it would be a little more time consuming to instill what you want them to do in their mind. Dog obedience training benefits not only the dog but also you, its owner. By doing the training with your dog it not only make your dog happy and confident but also gives you a sense of accomplishment to see your dog happy. A trained dog will be well behaved in front of your family and friends with a little supervision.
A well trained dog is liked by all. On the other hand if you did not give your dog any obedience training , then it will most lead to a rift formed from the dog and your family. The dog will tend to be alone and be antisocial. Further more it your dog would become unsafe for you and also others (neighbors, other animals etc.) Also a untrained dog is the major reason as to which many dogs tend to be left at animal shelters.
So now let us discuss as to how do we start our dog obedience training:
1. Start with something simple at first like "sit" and as you start feeling more confident start training in more complex commands. 2. Allot a specific time of a day to train your dog and never deviate from the time set. 3. Your sessions have to be short, but also make it such that you make it fun for the dog by interacting with the dog. 4. Repeat the commands as often as you can , so that your dog becomes used to it. 5. Never correct your dog if the dog does not follow the commands correctly for which he has been not properly taught. Everything is new to the dog, so you cant expect the dog to know exactly what you want at the first time. Teach the dog patiently and give some time till they are used to it. 6. Never use punishment as part of your dogs obedience training to correct the dog. Punishing the dog usually confuses them and makes them feel insecure and afraid of you. It usually has a negative effect than what you expect and make the dog antisocial. 7. Praise and Presents or treats works wonders on your dogs training. Be sure to praise your dog if he does what you asked from him. Also correct him appropriately if he did some mistake. 8. Make sure that you are the person who does the training with your dog and not some other family member. You need to show the dog that you are his master so that a bond of trust and loyalty can be formed. 9. Dogs tend to usually please the ones they consider to be their master. So all you have to do is spend as much time as you can with your dog till it accepts you as his master. 10. All dogs are motivated by something, be it treats, a walk, fetching, etc. Find out what motivates your dog and use it as a tool to train your dog .

I live in the san gabriel valley in CA (los angeles county). I just finished my formal training. MOst of my training are hands on. I am pretty comfortable with the dogs now, I am looking for a job but can't seem to find a nice dog grooming salon in my area. thanks guys!
Try this link - it is a groomer site which has listing for jobs. You can answer or place ad for a job. Asking vet for referrals to the better salons will also provide leads - they sometimes know which shops are looking for groomers or which ones to avoid. Some shops look good on the outside but either do crappy grooming or overcharge for their quality of services or not kind to the pets. I know excellent groomers who tend to be heavy handed on other ppl dogs since their dogs are show & so used to being groomed.

PetSafe Radio Fence: Helping You Care For Your Pets
As much as pets have become part of your family, they also deserve the same treatment that the other family members get. Love, care, freedom, comfort, and safety should also be enjoyed by them. As they say, they may be furry but they are still family. Yes, indeed, they are family. They are man's best friend. And you can perfectly strengthen your ties with them by making them healthy, happy, and safe just like you would want your human family members to be.
PetSafe: An Overview
PetSafe is an international company based in Knoxville, Tennessee. They were founded in 1991 and now have three offices all over the United States and three other offices in Canada, England, and China. They have a total of over 400 employees. PetSafe was established by a pet lover himself, and to him, he would not consider a product that he thinks is not effective or safe for his own pets. He also wants pet owners to feel good being a caregiver. In fact, his own pet dog, Spanky, is using four of the products they are manufacturing.
Over the years, PetSafe has produced over 400 products and is one of the largest pet training product manufacturers in the United States. They have products such as pet containment systems, electronic feeding systems, wireless fence containment system, bark control, GPS, and other specialty collars and the PetSafe radio fence, among others. They are committed to providing better home care for pets and for the family to which the pet belongs to.
The Safe Radio Fence
PetSafe radio fence is one of the best things there is for your pet family members. Just because they're furry does not mean they are stubborn and cannot be talked into following what you want. The PetSafe radio fence comes in two types:
- PetSafe Underground Radio Fence. This kit is packaged with a transmitter, boundary flags, a receiver collar, wire, and a training and installation DVD.
- PetSafe Wireless Radio Fence. The package is almost the same except for the wires. The transmitter just needs to be plugged in, and it will constantly emit radio signals in all directions. No more other setups needed and no wires to be buried. It is portable and handy.
The PetSafe radio fence operates at five correction levels, which comes in beep-only mode with vibration or a tone-only mode. It can reach areas up to 25 acres, although it would need additional flags and additional wires for the underground type. It has an indicator that tells you that the batteries need replacement. And it also operates for multiple pets as long as they are properly worn with the receiver collar.
Pet Depot Online

We have been taking our dog charlotte to a pupy training class for a while. within 4 weeeks most of the other dogs are potty trained or dont go very often. Charlotte still goes once a day usually. Any suggestions? She is a pugg beagle mix. Also, most of the other dogs can sit without needing a treat but she still needs one. Any suggestions there? i hope you guys know that when i say "she goes once a day" that i mean in the house. I dont think its possible to go 1nc a day
Once a day is fine for a dog.
And she's still a puppy! I'm not sure how old, but still. Puppies need constant training. Just keep working with her.
Also, keep giving her treats to reward good behaviors. Soon she will be able to do the good behaviors without them.
