How long did it take you to house train your puppy?
I have a 14 week old maltese/yorkie mix. I am working on potty training. I want to know how long it took others to train a puppy. Thanks
My baby girl, Jesse Lynne, an American Rottweiler, took exactly 2 weeks to train and be house broken. She's now 10 years old and has not had an "accident" in the house since the day she learned to go to the door and bark. She also figured out on her own to get back in the door she barked as well--I kid you not.
I've got some unfortunate news for you my friend, you have a Yorkie mix, right? They are notorious for not "getting it" in the house breaking department. I have a friend who is a breeder and has confirmed this for me. Just hang in there with your new baby eventually they'll get the idea but its a long, slow process.
Make sure you have the "puppy pads" found at all pet stores. They aren't a fix all but they will help. Also, make sure when he/she is left alone, have them on a tile floor with lots of newspapers--its much easier to clean up after them!
Congratulations and Best of Luck with your newest family member! ;o)
