Security Dog Handler Training

Give me the straight-up facts about being in the AF Reserves:?

I don't want to have to fool around with vague promises ("Only one weekend a month after you complete basic!"), so I'm looking for info on what happens when you enlist into the AF Reserves.
I'm looking to be eligible to be a dog handler eventually, so I'd have to go into Security Forces for a while, right? How long is the training for that, what do they actually do (besides gate security), will I ever be called for extra duty when I first begin, etc., etc.
Anyone with experience in the AF- I want your advice. I want to know a lot of facts so I know the right questions to ask the recruiter.
p.s.-
I intend to eventually go full-time, it's just that right now I want to remain concentrated on my little family (my husband and two year old daughter)
:)

The only time you will ever be able to apply your training to anything is if you get deployed. Other then that you'll be stuck "training" if not just sitting around. If you want to get in with the K9's go active doing Security Forces or MP with the Marines or Army. This will open up the possibility to do this. You wont get the chance serving in the Reserves.
