Change Cat Behavior With Consistent Training Techniques

There are several things you have to know before training your cat companion. Cat behavior is very different than that of dogs and requires different training techniques.

Therefore, PATIENCE, consistency, a good reward or positive reinforcement system and an enjoyable experience for your cats are the key ingredients towards successful cat training sessions. Training your cats for proper toilet, litter box, playing and leash manners and patterns require a good amount of time and patience. The task of your cat is to do the lesson at hand but yours is the patience. Cat training aids like treats are essential.

Because of the known independent nature of cats, some owners view them as untrainable which is wrong. Besides, physical exertions and mental stimulation are good for your cat's health. Your veterinarian may even suggest some helpful exercises and games for your cat. Behavior and psychology are the things you have to understand before training your cat. You may want to ask your veterinarians or consult books about cat training.

Cats respond to REWARDS or bribery very well. This is how they learn basic tricks. By words of praises, affection from pats, rubs and a loving voice and of course food, they can learn what you want them to learn fast and well done. They, too, have natural instincts and behaviors that help them do the tricks. At times, you would want them to use these instincts and aide them too in their training.

Here are some tips you can do to ensure success in changing cat behavior.

- Keep in mind that cats are not dogs. Their endurance for longer activities is less compared to dogs. Be sure to keep your training sessions to at least 15 minutes maximum per day. They respond very well to training before mealtimes when they are hungry.

- Cats are good in doing tricks especially when they are given rewards like foods and affection. Yelling, beating and force never work for them. Please be respectful of your cat at all times.

- If you catch their attention by using distinct sounds and commands, be sure that it is brief and repeated not more than twice. It will lose its effects if overused.

- Make your training session not only short but an enjoyable experience. Training your cat takes patience over many short sessions.

- Always make use of your cats name when commanding them. Afterwards, praise and reward them.

- Choose the best reward for your cat training.

- Cats have a sense of performance, the best time and who to perform for. Do not force them to do a trick in front of visitors.

- Be consistent in training your cat. Cats have very good memory.

For all you feline lovers, learn to do the tricks and practice PATIENCE. Training your cat should be an enjoyable experience for both of you. Proper cat behavior can be trained. Just remember to use your cat training aids as you go along. Your cat will be responsive and the rewards are well worth the effort.

Do cats mark certain areas in a household as bad?

Some might recognize me as I've been posting questions on here lately regarding my cat Pippin and her recent behavior. I have talk to a specialist and we've concluded that she hisses at me because she spends the most time with me and when she was scared by the loud noise she was upset that I didn't protect her and she hisses when my dad is around because she's afraid of him.

Now, she's exhibiting other behavior. She has been fine with me all day. She's let me pet her and laid with me. Sometimes when I'm petting her, especially on her chin or throat she starts to hiss. But just before I was walking past her in the hallway and she started viciously hissing at me again! And then as soon as I went up front to throw something out, she was on this alcove above our kitchen meowing at me to play with her not even a minute later. What is it about the hallway that upsets her? Does anyone have a clue about what is going on with my cat?

Your cat can pick up on the most sensitive things. Even if you can't feel "spirits" your cat can. The "spirits" that bother your cat are not bothering you. Also, if you believe in fairies, you will understand this, your cat will pick up on them as well.... meaning that your cat plays with gnomes, fairies, and pixie's.. whether you believe in them or not. So, if you are still wondering what is going on with your fur baby, this is probably why. Fur babies are very sensitive to illnesses as well, they can pick up the sensation of someone that is stressed, sick, or someone that is diseased, along with mental (depression). I hope this helps.

Dog And Cat Behavior

If you have a dog or cat that is a homosexual, do you love them anyways if you believe it's an abomination

Don't tell me that they don't go gay, because I've seen it with my own two eyes, in dogs and cats behavior.
My friend's chihuahuas were father and son and butt buddies, how sick is that? How can one of god's creatures do something like this if he doesn't like it. Do animals get free will to, and if so, do they get to go to heaven?
Given a very intelligent answer, which is correct. Why is it O.K. for animals and not people? I am an atheist and am trying to get religious people who hate gays to re-think why they do. I am straight and married so, this is not about me, but the animals I've owned and those I've met.

I have to say, dogs and cats, they aren't gay.

Humans and Dolphins (or is it Whales) are the only beings that have intercourse for pleasure (or that's all that has been proved thus far). The purpose of intercourse for all other beings is to procreate, more little pups and kitties running around. The reason why dogs hump other dogs is to breed, or to show dominance. So, for instance, if your male dog is humping another male dog, he is telling him he is the alpha male...or he is retarded (like actually retarded, it can occur in dogs, in which case he does not know what hes doing). Female dogs will do the same thing, as will cats. They will also hump you to tell you they are boss, then you should have then at obediance school. And as far as licking another dog or what have you, its a way of showing affection, like you might kiss your mother. Sure you wouldn't lick her butt to show her you cared, but then again you wouldn't lick your own to clean it.

And just to be clear, I am only trying to correct your science here, not your cause.
