Training my dog without the kennel?
well my dog is going to be 2 in june and shes been in a kennel for the whole time we had her.She knows its her bed (because when we tell her "go to Bed" thats were she goes). We let her out alot. She eats up everything she gets a hold of and i don't want to picture what would happen over night. She has alot of energy and won't listen to me. My mom is the "Leader" but i want her to listen to me to. How do i get her to behave without the kennel so she doesn't need it at night
I also have german sheppard that doesn't listen
Both dogs are calm seperately but crazy together
It is good to keep your dog kennel trained at night, that way as they get older and start loosing things like bladder control etc. then they are still kennel trained and will just make a mess there and not all over the house. We have our dog kenneled at night, which he likes, it is like his little safety spot and he knows it. During the day we let him have the run of the house. We never used to, we started by only leaving him out for half of the day and keeping baby gates up to keep him to a certain area that was "puppy proofed" so he couldnt chew everything in site. Now he has the run of the house and all he does is sleep all day. He is two now and we just started training him out of the kennel like 6mnths ago. Before that we would baby gate him in an area while we went to the movies or out for supper, something where we were only gone for an hour or two to get him used to it. We would praise him and give him a treat upon returning and we always make sure to potty him right when we get back, and if we have time we take him for a good walk afterwards too, that way they know they get rewarded.
