Does your mom overpack you?

I'm a teenager and I am attending a dog training camp/seminar so that I can learn more about competing with dogs. It's for only three nights but my mom is packing me a huge duffle bag. I mean it's not like I'm leaving for the summer and she is even labeling them with ziplock bags. She is freaked out about it being to dirty but it's just normal camp sanitary, which I don't mind. She is also adding back up and back up after back up of stuff. She also won't let me look at it out of fear of it getting a crumb on it or ruining it. I have one question, does your mom overpack you?

your mom sounds O.C.

you should ask her to pack yourself.

she might not feel like your ready to know what it is you need... (age?) but you have to grow up at some point, and packing yourself should be a small step... if not now, when?

she needs to let you start growing up, one grown up task at a time.... talk to her about it, and be mature.. you won't be her little child forever

If she won't listen or fathom the fact, get your father involved

How to Become a Police Dog Handler

The dog handlers have a demanding role and work with the dogs on a daily basis to ensure they are training to the highest level possible to help solve crime. When a handler arrives at the scene he will always be accompanied by his dog.

The police dogs are taught to provide assistance to officers in criminal situations. These dogs are often referred by the term K9, which sounds like the canine, a word that is generally referred to the dog and its relatives.

Due to their uniqueness, these dogs are taken special care and are kept in specifically built dog houses. In many countries the killing of a police dog is considered a very serious crime and anyone found guilty of this will be harshly punished. In some places the injuring of a service dog if often regarded as being on the same level as injuring a police officer.

Furthermore, a police service dog killed while on duty is traditionally given a full police funeral or burial, similar to that for a police officer. Some of the functions performed by police service dogs are as follows:

1. Police order enforcement dog

In this case these dogs are used to enforce public order by chasing and holding suspects, or detaining suspects.

2. Tracking

It is referred to locating of suspects or finding missing persons and objects.

3. Detecting illicit objects

Thee dogs are used to detect illicit substances such as drugs or explosives which may be carried by a person.

4. Cadaver dogs

These dogs are trained in detecting the odor of decomposing bodies. Dog's noses are so sensitive that they are even capable of detecting bodies that are under water.

Proper care must be taken when undertaking police dog training so that the dog can offer complete assistance to an officer during an investigation. The same level of care should taken when training police handlers.

It should be taken into consideration that the functioning of dogs is different to that of human behavior. Therefore, it becomes necessary that the dog handler is professionally trained in understanding all the behaviors of the police service dogs in various circumstances.

A Dog handler is a special police officer who is in charge of the training and handling of well trained police dogs. The level of training and certification for police dog handlers and police dogs should constantly evolve several challenges and has become more progressive as well. There are various institutes which impart training of police dog handlers.

A person in this institute has to go through both theoretical as well as practical training. Seminars, trainings and certifications are being offered through the American Police Dog Tactics which is usually open to any law enforcement, military as well as search and rescue units. Apart from handling the police dogs the living standard of these police dog handlers is even taken into consideration.

Becoming a dog handler for the police does have any specific education requirement, but they must be a current serving police officer. An apprenticeship under a current serving dog handler is then undertaken to develop the required skills to become a professional handelr.
