What are your thoughts on the "bark collar" and "shock collar" used for training a dog?"

My 7 mo old Lab puppy barks at night if she's not in the room with me. We left her out of her crate one night and now she's relentless in her determination. When I put her outside in her pen she barks for hours.
The neighbors and I are sleep deprived.
Also what bran of training devices should i purchase?

Let me tell you about my experience with electric collars. I use to think they were incredibly cruel, then I actually did some research on them and gave them a try and now I think they are a very valuable training tool. I don't use them for every little thing and I don't even use them on a high setting, but they work quickly and quite frankly I think they are more humane than continually getting frustrated with a stubborn dog. I have a dog that pulled on walks. It didn't matter if we used a prong collar, a gentle leader, a harness, or whatever else, she pulled like crazy. After nearly losing my mind on walks with her, I used the electric collar. A few corrections on one of the lower settings and she now walks perfectly, with or without the collar on. To me. that seems much more humane than always jerking on the leash and potentially damaging her neck. When used correctly, they do not hurt the dog, they are a discomfort, not painful. I've since used it to cure many behaviors with my dogs such as chasing cats which is potentially dangerous. I only use them when I feel nothing else is working but I truly think when used correctly they are very humane training tools. Just like anything else, it's the way it's used that determines if it's humane or not.
I have the Dogtra brand and it's been great.

Has anyone ever tried a pinch collar to train a dog?

I've heard that they are the most humane training device, they just look so barbaric to me.

They work great on some dogs and are really much kinder for a puller than a chain collar.

I am not fond of haltis or gentle leaders as they really don't work very well for most dogs.

If you have a dog with 'issues' I would NOT go the treat training route (although I have with some dogs). Pack leaders DO NOT bribe their pack. That is the problem with the PP people, they think there is a one size fits all training method, and there is not, all dogs are individuals. And I would NOT go to Petsmart, the Petsmart 'trainers' (and I use this term loosely) I have watched are totally clueless and have no business trying to teach anybody to train their dog.

Various Types Of Dog Training Collars

For many dog owners having a well-behaved animal is very important. Not only is a well-trained pet enjoyable to be around it is also safer because it is less likely to stray from its environment. There are several ways to train a dog with most methods using some type of dog training collars.

Choke Chain Collar
The basic collar used for training animals is the choke chain style. This is made using steel chain links to form the length of the product with two circular sections on each end. To place this item around a dog's neck the small links are pulled through the larger circle to form a ring. When the item is worn it hangs in a loose fashion.

To use it for training it needs to be connected to a leash, which when pulled will tighten the chain around the dog's neck making it uncomfortable. The chain link collar is frequently used for training dogs to obey commands that involve movement such as walking or sitting.

No Bark Collars
There are a number of electronic collars that are used for different training purposes. The no bark design has a small device attached to a fabric strap that fits around the animal's neck with a traditional buckle fastener. The device is designed to detect the sound of a particular pet's bark so it only becomes activated when it registers that bark.

The device will emit a small electrical charge that is felt by the animal wearing it. When a dog begins to associate the discomfort of the shock with the noise it makes barking it learns to stop barking to avoid getting shocked.

Shock Training
There is another type of product that also uses the shock method to train an animal. These are remote training collars that the owner controls via a remote device. One device is attached to the fabric strap around the pet's neck. This unit emits the electrical charge that is felt by the dog. The remote controls when this charge will be emitted. This product is often used to set boundaries for a pet so it learns to stay in its yard.

Spray Collars
A variation on the remote controlled shock device is the spray unit. These training collars for dogs use spray devices attached to the animal's neck strap to create discomfort. The sprays are not harmful to a pet and are controlled by the owner's remote unit

Innotek SD-70 Lap Dog Remote Shock Training Dog Collar Instruction Manual?

My friend received one of these and doesn't have the instructions, he wanted me to try to find them but no luck searching the internet, only found where I can buy them...anyone have them or know where I can get them?
There was no package. It's been used. As for the opinions on the collar, I'm sorry but that's not what I was looking for. I'm not advocating for the use of the collar, I'm just doing what I was asked and looking for the instructions.

Also, tell your friend to test the levels on his hand- these aren't the most reputable products and sometimes have problems with inconsistency.
