How can i train my German Shepherd puppy?

my 3 month old puppy really needs some obedience training, and i have been searching on the internet for a while now on how to train puppy's/dogs. but all the videos i have seen are trainers training puppy's that are all ready trained. any advice? and please don't tell me to take her to a training school.

Okay. Why not?

If I wanted to be a plumber, I'd end up going to school in addition to working on the job.

There are many good (and bad) books, videos, etc. out there on training. "Don't Shoot the Dog" by Karen Pryor is a good one.

That being said, a LOT of training is timing and reacting to what the dog is doing. The greatest book, or video in the world can't watch YOU and tell you that your timing is off, or wrong.

VERY basic training techniques can be gotten out of videos and books. If you have any sort of problem, they won't help you much.

Most dog clubs have puppy and beginner classes. Typically, they'll run $10.00/class. Usually you pay for ALL the classes at one time. Typically classes run 8-10 weeks.

I can teach you more in a couple of one hour classes than you can get out of a video, or a book in a few weeks.

German Shepherd Dogs Training Equipment

In order to proceed to German shepherd training, you must have German shepherd dogs training equipment. You must have enough and good qualities of equipment to have a successful training. For best result you must train it the dog in its younger days. This will assure you that when it grows it would be one of the best dogs ever. Experience is a factor here. When that dog started training in his younger year he will have more experience than the others.

One of these equipment is what we call muzzles. This will prevent your dog from biting anyone.

These muzzles must be lightweight so that the dog that is wearing will feel comfort. This kind of gear is perfect for training. You can use it also when travelling with your dog or paying a visit to a veterinarian. It must have designs that fits to the dog and must be durable.

These equipments are also essential in training your German shepherd dog: dog harness, collar and leash. Harness – this will help keep dogs from pulling. Collar – it is equipment that is used for control, identification and fashion. Leash- it is equipment that is used to lead, control or hold an animal, it is a chain, strap or rope that can be attached to the harness or collar of a dog.

Having all of this essential equipment is a big factor in a successful training. But having this alone is not sufficient. There are still things to be considered. Some of these factors are the dog trainer, the place where you conduct your training and of course the dog itself. The dog trainer must pass all the qualifications for a good trainer and experience is the best trait that they must possess. The place must be in a quiet and peaceful area where there are no other disturbances. The dog's attitude is also a big factor to be considered. The more obedient your dog is, the more assurance to a successful training.
