Working Dog Training

Does Anyone know how to get involved with working for training dogs? Working Dogs.?

Im interested in training dogs that help blind people or hearing impaired. I have no idea on how to get involved with that, but would love too. Im from Toronto.

The best thing to do would be contact guide and service dog schools in your area ( a quick google search should help you find them) and see what their requirements are for someone who whats to train. See if they have an internship if you are old enough to participate in one. If you are not old enough but live close see if they perhaps have a volunteer position that would help give you some experience or at least give you the opportunity to observe the trainers working.

Are you training your dog for herding?

What breed do you train?

What kind of livestock are you training on and/or for?

Have you trialed? If so, what venues? Any titles or wins?

Ever done a seminar or clinic? Who?

Why do you do it? Do you have a farm and a specific need for a good working dog, or do you do it as a hobby?

I train my Border Collies for herding mostly on sheep. I wondered if anyone else trained in herding and what were the specifics of that.

I'm thinking of getting my own sheep to let my GSDs exercise themselves. Never trialed, I have let one of my studs "play" with my friend's mini horses which was quite amusing. Maybe I'll start a sheep farm....ranch thing. Sounds fun right?
