A House Dog and a Dog House - Your Well Trained Pet

Having a pet is a wonderful experience. Having a dog who gives you unconditional love and affection and looks at you like you are the best thing since sliced bread, you just can't beat that. The one who brings the food is always the 'best' one in their books. Your home can be a wonderful happy home when a dog is a part of the family, and when there have been some boundaries established and training provided for your pet. Having areas that your dog associates with his 'safe' place is a good idea, if it's a dog bed in the house or a dog house outside in the yard that will be their territory.

If you feel your pet's health is important enough for regular trips to the Vet for medicine and vaccinations then your doggy's happiness in their surroundings should be equally important. A with children they need to know the difference between right and wrong and where they can go and what they can do, and what they can't. The difference with your pet is clearly all about the non verbal cues, body language and different ways you can communicate with them. If you want them to go to their dog bed so they are not under foot when guest are around, or relax in their dog house outside in the shade you need to present this as a positive experience for your pet and not a form of punishment. This does not always mean handing them treats because as with people, that means extra calories and a fat dog. Playing with them, massaging them, showing them attention is a reward for a dog.

They are eager to please and letting Fido know you are happy with their behavior is a reward to them. A safe place they can call their own to have a personal time out is a positive thing. A bed in the house where they know they can go rather than on the couch or up in your bed is setting those boundaries. When they retreat there, give them a positive happy voice praising them and giving them some affection when they go where they belong will lead to a repeat in this behavior. The same would apply outdoors with a dog bed or a dog house, it is for 'them' and if the kids have worn them out or it's getting too warm in the sun, or a little cold in a breeze they have a comfortable place to enjoy. Again, the tone of voice and affectionate gestures you give will tell them there actions are making you happy.

There are so many high quality canine beds and dog houses that will offer you the perfect size for your pet, the right support or insulation and protection from the elements. You have taken care of their food and their medical needs, so their personal space and proper training should be equally as important. A happy pet whether it is an indoor dog, or one that prefers to hang out in the yard, if they are offered some set boundaries and training they will make for a wonderful pet and a you will have a happy home.
