SMALL DOG RE-TRAINING!!!?
I have a small breed dog...Bonnie...we got her while i was pregers, we got her back in apirl 2008...our baby was born in july..thats when problems happened. She has been peeing every where sooo bad that we removed carpet in our sons room and our room and today i caught her peeing on our recliner...2 times!! I understand she is jelious of the new baby, but how do we start re-traing her to be the dog we know she is? I love her sooo much but she is driving me nanners...it is getting cold outside and we dont have the heart to keep her out...we still show her love but it does not seem to matter...she wants it all! PLEASE HELP US WITH OUR LOST DOG!!!
You are going to have to confine her temporarily, until the time in the day when you can devote all of your attention to her. When she's left alone, if only for a few minutes, she's going to show you she's upset about the new addition by misbehaving. Buy a dog enclosure and put her in it when you have to tend to the baby. Dogs will not usually soil the place where they sleep, although there are some exceptions. When baby is napping, or playing, take your dog for a walk in the yard to "do her business". Play with her for a bit, and then when you have to get back to baby, crate the dog. You'll have to do this until your dog behaves again.
