How can I apartment-train my dog?

I am moving with my three-year old Westie from the suburbs in Arizona (where he has an acre yard to run around in and do his business 20 times a day) to a small apartment in New York. Where do NYC dogs pee when their owners are at work? I'm sure not all of them have dog walkers. I am so very worried about my dog messing up the apartment, Any suggestions or advice from city dog owners would be great. Thanks!

If your dog is truly house trained not to go the the bathroom in the house then he should realize that the same rules apply here even though he does not get to run outside as much as he used to.

To be on the safe side, I would recommend crating him during the day while you are not home. If you are moving to a totally new environment this will also help him feel safer until he gets acclimated to his new home.

Make sure you are taking him on walks, not just letting him outside to go to the bathroom. We live in a condo and my dogs get a 20 minute walk in the morning and a 30 minute walk in the evening. They also get a late night potty break before we go to bed.
