my aduld cat chews like a puppy. how can I train him?

My 2 year old cat won't stop chewing things. When he was teething, he started with rubber bands. I got rid of all of the rubberbands, and he moved on to shoes. The shoes are out of his reach, and he has moved onto books, cardboard, wood, underware and pretty much anything he can sink his teeth into. We have tried "no", spray bottles etc. He is not attention deprived so what do you suggest?
He has more than enough toys, many of them he eats too.

like abby said furry mice are great. you can get ones that you can fill with catnip, they love those. my cat used to carry her mouse around by the tail, bring it into her bed and clean it!
