The Best Tips On House Training For Dogs
Unless you want to be cleaning up your dog's little 'accidents' all day long you need to know the best house training for dogs is. It's probably the first bit of training you will do with your dog and it's important that you get it right!
The most effective form of house training for dogs is using pee pads/training pads. These are absorbent pads that you put on the floor (works better than newspaper)! These tips can be used whether you are training a small puppy or an adult dog.
LEAVING YOUR DOG ALONE IN THE HOUSE
When you're not in the house you will need to lay down quite a few pads on the floor. Over time, you will be able to reduce the number of pads and gradually move them towards the place you want your dog to pee (i.e. the back door). Your dog will get used to having to go to the back door to pee. If he has an accident, you may be moving the pads to fast. Give him a treat when you get home if he's been good.
As they get older, they'll be able to hold it in for longer periods of time.
HOUSE TRAINING FOR DOGS WHEN YOU'RE AT HOME
When they're puppies, dogs will need to go to the toilet ALOT. Whatever goes in is gonna come straight back out! Take your puppy to his toilet place every 45-60 minutes and wait for him to go. Praise him for being good. Use a phrase such as 'toilet' or 'be clean' every time you take him out, he will soon understand what you mean.
ONE THING YOU MUST NEVER DO
Never punish your dog if he has an accident. He will not understand what he has done wrong. Puppies love to learn so it is up to YOU to get your house training for dogs right.
