I just recently adopted a lab/pit mix puppy and im having problems with biting and paper training, any tips?
i know the puppy is teething but its not a playful bite it is more aggressive.
And what exactly is it that makes you think it's an aggressive behavior? What is it in his body language that tells you that? Odds are, it's simple playbiting, which though it can get rough at times, cannot be labled as aggressive behavior. This is your pup's only form of communication. It's up to YOU to teach the pup that this is not acceptable.
First, when he starts gnawing at you, give a firm "NO" and walk away. Ignore the puppy completely (no physical contact, no eye contact) until the dog has settled and is playing calmly...at which point, it is acceptable to reward and treat him for calm behavior. Do this consistantly and your biting problems will cease to exist.
Skip paper training. It's an unnecessary step. Just take the pup out at regular intervals, reward and praise when he eliminates outside.
