Can you explain this dog thing to me?
I have a science fair, and I'm going to do one called, "Are dogs color blind?"
Here's the link:

It says to train the dog to choose, but how do you know when it knows and what will the dog do when it chooses a jar. Will it bark, move or something? I don't get it.
You decide how the dog is to tell you. You will do that by rewarding her when she does something. So if the dog touches her nose to a jar, reward that. If she touches it with her paw, reward that! Start out by teaching her that you will reward that behavior (with just one jar). Then, when she has learned to touch the jar and get a reward, put the other 2 jars down, and move them around (like 3 card Monte). To start out, make the color difference really obvious, by using black and white, or one ndwith a pattern as one plain. When she touches the worng jar, just say Uh-uh, try again. If she gets frustrated, help her by touching the right jar yourself. Pretty soon, she will fiigure it out and start to pick the right one each time.
But you're not finished yet! You don't know whether she is just picking the darker one, or the one with the pattern. So then you repeat the process with different combinations until you are pretty sure she is choosing the one that is a different color! Then you can do the rest of the experiment.
Make the rewards very, very small. Otherwise she will stop playing the game because she doesn't want any more rewards!
